Anglo-French relations got a little complicated this morning.

The bacon bap faced off against the croissant in our very own Battle of Tastings, celebrating the arrival of the Bayeux Tapestry and our partnership with the .

We gave England another chance. France won, again.

The itinerary was looking very cultured: a wander around the Piazza, a bit of theatre, a gallery stop and some very serious window shopping.

Naturally, the window shopping didn’t stay theoretical.

By the time you make it back to the Lobby Bar, there’s only one thing left to do: order a cocktail and discuss the day’s discoveries.

The summer curtain is slowly coming down, and a new season is waiting in the wings. We’ll be spending ours over long lunches, late cocktails and plenty of time in the Lobby.

Une soirée à la Renoir.

An afternoon of Impressionism at the National Gallery, followed by cocktails at One Aldwych as Covent Garden slips into evening.

With 40 paintings to discover, including Bal au Moulin de la Galette, on display in the UK for the first time, there’s plenty to linger over.

Then comes lunch, drinks, a night for two and breakfast the next morning.

Our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea politely sidesteps centuries of debate by offering something everyone can agree on: if there's chocolate involved, nobody's looking at the scones anyway.
