Celebrating the close of Amy Judd’s residency at Bankside. This is what a residency is all about: not just time in the studio, but the true integration of art into every corner of the hotel. Amy’s work did not simply exist within four walls; it became part of the Bankside experience.

From our walls to our menus, her influence could be felt throughout. It came to life in events and meetings, in creative workshops as part of the guest experience, and in a special artist dessert in Art Yard.

As part of The Power of Her exhibition, Amy’s works transformed the White Box into an immersive backdrop for forums, dinners and celebrations, while moments such as our guest wine hours offered a more intimate way to connect with both the artist and her work.

A residency at Bankside is about creating space for ideas to evolve, but also allowing those ideas to be lived, shared and experienced. Amy’s journey with us captured that perfectly.

What a fantastic evening celebrating Amy Judd’s residency collection launch on Thursday in our Makers Studio.

These end-of-residency moments are always special, a chance to celebrate alongside the artist and reflect on just how much can be achieved with the time, focus and inspiration of a dedicated studio space.

At Bankside, we’re proud to work in partnership with Contemporary Collective to give artists the freedom to create, and it’s incredibly rewarding to watch each residency take shape. Every artist brings something completely unique, influenced by the neighbourhood and the creative energy that surrounds us.

For Amy, inspiration came from nearby Shakespeare’s Globe, with her work echoing the enchanting, liminal characters of Shakespeare’s plays.

Seeing how a new environment can shape an artist’s direction, spark fresh ideas and lead to entirely new collections is exactly why we’re so passionate about what we do.

Our White Box and meeting rooms were transformed into dynamic, creative and interactive environments for a day dedicated to empowering change and championing diversity.

The Power of Her

We’re proud to announce the launch of The Power of Her, now open in the White Box at Bankside Hotel until late May 2026.

Presented by Contemporary Collective x DA Gallery, the exhibition launches in alignment with International Women’s Day and celebrates contemporary women artists who reclaim narrative, challenge perception and redefine the female gaze.
Inspired by Louise Bourgeois’ words, “To create is to reveal,” the exhibition explores identity, agency and representation through painting and mixed media — positioning women as originators of meaning rather than subjects of observation.

This exhibition is especially significant to us. With the exception of Dr Helen Gørrill, all featured artists have previously been part of our Artist-in-Residence programme. Dr Gørrill has been connected to Bankside since our opening, when we commissioned three of her works that remain on permanent display in our stairwell.
