WHAT DOES AN IMAGINARY KINGDOM SOUND LIKE?
Every great fictional universe has something that draws you deeper into its world.
Sometimes, it's the characters. Sometimes, it's the landscapes. Sometimes, it's the mythology.
But what if the world itself had a voice?
For six years, the creative universe of “LAGELU: THE KINGDOM ON FOUR HILLS” has been taking shape through illustrations, character designs, cultural research, and extraordinary world-building.
Now, another dimension of the Kingdom is emerging.
Music!!!
Not simply background entertainment, but an evocative extension of the story itself.
Through indigenous Èsà Yoruba chants, African rhythms, poetic expression, and cinematic symphonic arrangement, the Kingdom of Lagelu acquires something illustrations alone cannot fully express: “a soundscape of its own.”
It's a fascinating creative direction, particularly within African graphic storytelling, where companion compositions remain relatively uncommon.
And behind these musical works lies a bigger story about African identity, cultural memory, imagination, and the possibilities of multimedia storytelling.
In our latest blog feature, we explore the vision behind “The Musicals of Lagelu” the significance of the Kingdom's musical identity, and what happens when art and sound converge.
