Last night, our Worshipful Master had the pleasure of visiting St Peter and St Paul Lodge No. 1410 in the Province of Buckinghamshire during their regular meeting.

From the moment of arrival, the warmth of the welcome extended by the Brethren was both heartfelt and sincere, reflecting the strong bonds of friendship and fraternity that Freemasonry is renowned for. The evening’s proceedings included a Passing Ceremony, conducted with great dignity and precision, providing an excellent example of the high standards upheld within the Lodge.

A particular highlight of the evening was the exceptional presentation of the Tracing Board. Delivered with confidence, clarity, and insight, it captivated all those present and served as a reminder of the rich symbolism and educational value that underpin our traditions.

The evening continued into a truly enjoyable Festive Board, where good food, excellent company, and engaging conversation created a wonderful atmosphere. The camaraderie amongst the members and visitors alike was tangible, demonstrating the enduring strength of Masonic fellowship.

Our sincere thanks go to the Worshipful Master, Officers, and Brethren of St Peter and St Paul Lodge for their generous hospitality and for making the visit such a memorable experience. We look forward to meeting again in the near future.

Saturday 27th June this year marks Armed Forces Day , a time to honour the sailors, soldiers, and aviators who safeguard our freedoms each and every day.
To every regular, reservist, and cadet currently serving — and to all those who have served before — thank you. Your dedication and sacrifice do not go unnoticed.
Dover College holds a proud and longstanding tradition of Old Dovorians who have served in the armed forces since 1871. We especially recognise the contributions of Old Dovorians, past and present staff, and the families and communities who have supported them.
The Old Dovorian Lodge extends its deepest gratitude to you all. Thank you not only for your service, but also for the example you continue to set for generations to come.

On 28 January, the Worshipful Master of the Old Dovorian Lodge, W. Bro Robert McAlpin (M71–76), and the Lodge’s Director of Ceremonies, W. Bro Sqn Ldr (Ret’d) Budgie Sargent (M70–75), had the privilege of welcoming Jilly Carrell, founder of Beyond the Wire, and Fiona Walker, Director of Communications, to the RAF Club in London.

During this special meeting, the Old Dovorian Lodge proudly presented a £1,500 donation from the Master’s 2025/26 Charity List.

Beyond the Wire is a young but extraordinary charity dedicated to supporting the families of service personnel who have passed away in service. Their mission is simple yet profound: no bereaved military family should ever feel forgotten or alone. Their values resonate deeply with our Lodge’s and Dover College’s long-standing ties to the armed and reserve forces.

Our contribution will help fund their pioneering online Bereavement Hub — the first of its kind in the UK — bringing vital information and support together in one place, and strengthening research into bereavement care across the Armed Forces community.

We are honoured to stand with an organisation whose compassion and purpose make a real difference when it matters most”.
