πŸŽƒ A Week of Halloween Learning at Beavers Lodge! πŸ‘»

Halloween brought a little magic, lots of curiosity and plenty of learning to Beavers Lodge Playgroup! 🧑

Our children arrived dressed as different Halloween characters and objects, ready to explore, create and learn through play.

From colouring pumpkins and watching the pumpkin carving process to exploring natural objects, discovering colours and textures, and making their own marks, every activity offered something new to investigate.

πŸ•·οΈ How many legs does a spider have?
πŸ‚ What can we discover in nature?
🎨 What happens when we mix creativity with imagination?
πŸ’› And what does it feel like to be scared, excited or happy?

These simple questions opened up opportunities to develop language, early maths, physical skills, creativity, problem-solving and emotional understanding.

Across the week, we explored all seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), giving children opportunities to learn at their own pace, express their ideas and build confidence.

At Beavers Lodge, we believe that children learn best when they can explore, experiment, ask questions and enjoy the process. Every little discovery matters!

Because behind every pumpkin, every mark and every curious question, there is a child learning about the world in their own way. πŸŽƒβ€οΈ

A Little Home for Our Woodland Friends

Today, our children took their pretend picnic adventure a step further by building a den for their woodland friends, the rabbits and mice.

They collected fallen leaves from our field and used these natural treasures to create a little shelter for the animals. What began as a simple creative activity soon became a story of imagination, care and discovery.

As the children arranged the leaves, they explored textures, shared ideas, solved little problems and brought their pretend picnic to life. We encouraged them to think about where their animal friends might rest and what they might need.

For us, these moments are a lovely reminder that learning often begins with a simple idea and grows through children's curiosity, conversations and play.

At Beavers Lodge, we give children the time and freedom to turn their ideas into little adventures.

Our Autumn Tuff Tray Exploration

Today, the children explored the beautiful colours and textures of autumn through a tuff tray filled with natural materials.

The leaves, pine cones, twigs and other autumn treasures became a starting point for curiosity and conversation. As the children touched, observed and explored, we encouraged them to notice colours, compare textures, describe what they felt and share their ideas.

Through this simple, hands-on experience, the children had opportunities to develop language, sensory awareness, early mathematical thinking and curiosity about the natural world.

At Beavers Lodge, we value these everyday moments of discovery. Sometimes, a handful of autumn leaves can open up a whole world of learning!

This week, our children are exploring the magic of autumn! From looking closely at colourful leaves and discovering the animals and tiny creatures around us, to printing and painting with autumn colours, there is so much to investigate. We also enjoyed a special autumn picnic with our teddy bear friends!

But there is more to this than seasonal fun!

Understanding the World: Children observe changes in nature, notice differences in leaves and develop curiosity about the natural world.

Expressive Arts and Design: Printing, painting and exploring autumn colours allow children to experiment with textures, patterns and creative ideas.

Communication and Language: Talking about what they see, feel and discover helps children learn new words and express their ideas.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development: Sharing a picnic, playing together and enjoying imaginative experiences help children develop friendships, confidence and cooperation.

At Beavers Lodge Playgroup, we believe children learn best when they can explore, question, create and discover through play.

Every little discovery is a big step in learning!

Today, our Home Corner moved outdoors, giving the children a familiar space to explore, imagine and learn through pretend play.

Pretend play is an important part of early childhood learning. Children bring experiences from their own homes and everyday lives into their play. They may copy what they have seen adults doing, recreate familiar routines, or learn new ideas by watching and playing alongside their friends.

Through this type of play, children develop language as they talk, negotiate roles and share ideas. They practise social skills such as cooperation, turn-taking and understanding other people's perspectives. They also develop confidence, independence, creativity and problem-solving skills.

This links closely with the EYFS, particularly Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Understanding the World, while supporting learning across all seven areas of development.

Our role is to provide an inviting environment, observe what children are interested in, join their play when appropriate, and introduce new words, ideas and experiences without taking over their play.

At Beavers Lodge, we believe children learn best when they can explore, imagine and make sense of the world in their own way.

Learning through play, in their own way.

βš½πŸ† Beavers Lodge World Cup Football Fun! πŸ†βš½

Last week, our children enjoyed an exciting Beavers Lodge World Cup Football Game as part of our physical development and teamwork activities.

The children had lots of fun practising their football skills, taking turns, working together as a team, and celebrating each other’s achievements. Every child participated with great enthusiasm and received a special sticker to recognise their effort, confidence, and wonderful sportsmanship.

Together, the children also created their very own Beavers Lodge World Cup, making this a memorable experience filled with creativity, friendship, and joy.

Well done to all our little football stars! 🌟⚽

✈️🌍 Virtual International Flying Experience! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§βž‘οΈπŸ‡«πŸ‡·

This week, Beavers Lodge Playgroup was transformed into a bustling international airport as our children embarked on a virtual journey to Paris!

From making their own passports, boarding passes and aeroplanes to packing suitcases, exploring airline logos, watching aircraft overhead and learning about Heathrow Airport, the children experienced every step of preparing for an international flight. On boarding day, they checked in, had their passports scanned, collected their boarding cards and "flew" to Paris through imaginative role play.

This exciting hands-on experience encouraged creativity, communication, problem solving and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Most importantly, the children had an unforgettable adventure while learning through play.

At Beavers Lodge Playgroup, we believe that the best learning happens when children's imaginations take flight! ✈️❀️

πŸ”¬πŸš€πŸŒ Inspiring young scientists and future eco-warriors! πŸŒ±β™»οΈβœ¨

Today, we proudly hosted our Science and Eco Exhibition, showcasing the children's wonderful learning and creativity. Families had the opportunity to explore a range of exciting projects, including robots, rockets, the solar system, volcanic eruptions, compost making in a jar, recycling, and the responsible use of natural resources.

Through these hands-on experiences, the children developed their curiosity, scientific thinking, problem-solving skills, and understanding of how we can care for our planet. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, creativity, and achievements.

A big thank you to all the families who joined us and celebrated the children's learning journey.
