Father’s Day weekend is upon us and that means two things: firstly, it’s set to be a busy weekend here at Talland Bay and there’s still time to get involved 🍽️

Work a last-minute Lads & Dads Afternoon Tea into your weekend plans, or let us treat dad to a pint on us, when you join us for Sunday Lunch. Sunday also sees the annual RNLI Looe Raft Race and we’re all set to watch some of the team take to the river for a day that always promises buckets (and spades) of fun. Stop by for a well-deserved drink afterwards, if you’re joining the raft of…rafts.

Lastly, should that last-minute “oh no, I forgot about Father’s Day!” panic have just set in, here’s your friendly reminder that our vouchers arrive immediately 😉 You’ll find them on our website, and Dad will find plenty of cause to raise a toast here on the Cornish coast 🍻

🥂Date Night at Talland Bay 🥂

Surf or turf? That is the question. We couldn’t possibly pick a favourite, so this date night we’re serving up both. Choose land or sea, steak or seafood, or celebrate finally getting a night off together by going all out and putting both on the same plate (and perhaps even adding a glass or two of fizz, should you feel that way inclined...)

Looe quayside will be bustling this weekend as both the Looe Food & Drink Festival and the first of the Summer Sea Shanties come to town.

We’d go so far as to say it’s one of the best weekends of the year, (we’ve been preparing our taste buds and readying our singing voices for weeks…)

If you’re spending the weekend with us, ask the team for their pick from a tasty line-up of chef demos. And if you aren’t, consider this your invitation to head along the coast path from Looe to Talland for a coffee if you could use a way to put all of that food to good use!

Don’t look now, but this weekend’s forecast has got “sharers in the sun” written all over it ☀️

Our Plates menu is special for a few reasons. Ingredients from local boats, local farms, local folk we know well; dishes built around what is in season and exceptional right now here in Cornwall. Served within sight of the sea, and with your first beer on us when you tuck in, for a limited time only 🍻

If that’s enough reason for you to make hay and sample Plates while the sun shines, get your lunch booking in the diary for the weekend while the sea view seats are still there for the taking!

From sunshine to showers in the space of a week…Cornwall sure does like to keep us all on our toes on the weather front!

But if there’s one thing we do know, it’s that June rain means our gardens will be looking even greener come summer ☀️ The days of morning coffees on the lawn, al fresco lunches on the terrace, and sundowners under pink skies are coming, we can feel it. We’ll be ready…

What do you get when you take a Blue Moon & Cornish Yarg scone, add Guinness Chocolate Cake, pile them high with three tiers of other tasty treats, and add a pint of Cornish Ale?

The answer is one very happy Dad (and some serious favourite child brownie points…) 🍻

Our Lads & Dads Afternoon Tea returns for one day only on Saturday 20th June. Last year proved very popular indeed; if Dad deserves a proper day out this Father’s Day weekend, book a table and treat him to sweet treats at Talland with a sea view.

We may still be a few days off, but it felt like summer settled into Talland this week ☀️

Outside has become the only possible place for your morning coffee again, the gardens are back in technicolour, the five minute walk to the beach for a dip is back on to-do lists, and those skies are giving sunset sundowners after dinner.

Summer always feels like a long time coming, but once it’s here, all is very quickly forgiven.

Then you round it all off with a good night’s sleep, in a bed you didn’t have to make this morning.

And that is how we like to do weekends, here at Talland Bay.

May’s Date Night at Talland Bay promises a champagne take on the Friday night classic: fish and chips!

Not every night away from the kids, the chores and the telly has to be a haute-cuisine affair. Sometimes all you really want is a night off - just the two of you, for once - with some exceptionally good fish and chips, a glass of fizz, and a sunset view of the sea to wash it all down with while you finally catch up without interruptions.
