Here at Vinegar Hill we can offer you fabulous B&B accommodation as well as the chance to learn how to throw a pot on the potters wheel. Our one day pottery course experience gets your creative juices flowing as well as satisfying your stomach with a delicious home cooked sit down lunch ( at lots of tea and cake in the morning!). We also have a gallery of Dave's work which ranges from mugs and jug

s to large one off pieces and hand thrown basins. We are situated a few minutes walk from the beach, just on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park so whether you are filling your day making pots, or just using us as a base to explore the area, there is a huge amount to see and do here.

Breakfast is served 🥐

Whether it’s enjoyed by those staying in our accommodation or in the homes of people who have taken a little piece of VHP away with them, we love seeing our handmade pottery become part of your morning routine.

Guests staying with us can enjoy a delicious breakfast of freshly baked croissants, Dorset Cereals, yoghurt, fruit, toast and homemade jams, all included in your stay.

Why do we flatten our plates? 💙

Although they leave the wheel perfectly flat, clay naturally shrinks as it dries and can begin to distort slightly.

Before glazing and firing, each plate is carefully checked and flattened by hand to make sure it sits just as it should.

The VHP ‘Journey to Japan’ spaces are filling up. 🇯🇵

After months of dreaming and planning, we are so excited to be welcoming lovers of ceramics, craftsmanship, culture and incredible food to join us on a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

From ancient pottery towns and traditional kilns to unforgettable local experiences, we will be exploring Japan through the eyes of passionate potters, in a small group of just 10 people.

Have you met Queenie? 💙

Nestled right beside the pottery and filled with original pieces alongside our handmade pottery touches, this beautifully restored wagon offers a unique place to stay whilst attending one of our courses.

We recently had a guest stay in Queenie during our three-day pottery course and they loved having the studio just a few steps away. Not only could they enjoy a peaceful evening in the wagon, but they were also able to make the most of the extra studio access and continue working on their pieces after the day’s teaching had finished.

If you’re travelling from further afield or simply want to fully immerse yourself in pottery for a few days, Queenie makes the perfect creative retreat.

The most relaxing way to start the week 💙

If Monday has hit a little hard and you’re already looking forward to some time to switch off, why not join us for a day of pottery throwing this weekend?

Two last-minute spaces have become available on this Saturday’s course, making it the perfect opportunity to slow down, get creative and try something new.
