We are always looking for ways to expand our services, improve accessibility, and ensure we can continue to offer this valuable resource to the community free of charge.

# 1. **Are the walks free?**
- Yes, all walks are free.

# 2. **What time do the walks start?**
- Most walks start at 11 a.m. (unless otherwise advertised).

# 3. **How far do you walk?**
- Typically between 3 and 5 miles (unless otherwise advertised).

# 4. **How long do the walks last?**
- Walks generally last between 90 and 120 minutes, depending on the pace and stops. Occasionally, longer "Extended" walks are advertised.

# 5. **Why isnโ€™t there a fixed duration or distance for the walks?**
- Our walks vary and adapt based on the group and the dayโ€™s conditions, so they may change at the last minute.

# 6. **Can I bring my dog?**
- Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a lead at all times.

# 7. **Can I bring children?**
- Yes, children are welcome, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

# 8. **Do the walks finish where they start?**
- Yes, unless a linear walk is specifically advertised.

# 9. **Are there stiles or other obstacles on the walk?**
- Occasionally, we may need to cross fields or navigate stiles and other barriers. Assistance is always available when needed.

# 10. **Why are the walks free?**
- We are a voluntary group. Our walk leaders offer their time freely and do not get reimbursed. Walks are free, and we donโ€™t charge for membership or entry fees. Any costs, like insurance, are covered through fundraising events (such as quiz nights) or donations.

# 11. **How can I contact you?**
- You can reach us by:
- Clicking the 'Send Message' link on our page.
- Emailing us at **[email protected]**
- Calling us at **07467 834153**
For general questions, feel free to leave a comment, and one of our regular walkers will respond.

# 12. **Why do you not a have a WebSite?**
- We know a website would be useful, but right now we simply do not have the resources to create and maintain one. Websites require: - Time- Money - Technical and Artistic knowledge.
- These are listed in order of what is most precious to us โ€” especially volunteer time.
- We currently use Facebook as our main platform because it is free and allows us to quickly share walk details, photos, and community updates.
- If someone cannot access Facebook, our walk programme can also be found online through Mansfield CVS, at the link they kindly provide. https://www.mansfieldcvs.org/

# 13 ** why do you not walk at weekends?**
# 14 ** why do you not have evening walks?**
- We would like to offer weekend and evening walks, and it has been known to happen. However, due to other commitments, it can be difficult to find the time, and for safety reasons we prefer to have two walk leaders on every walk. There are also plenty of other groups walking at weekends, as many of us are already members of the Ramblers and other walking and hiking groups.

# # Please remember:
- We are a not-for-profit group
- We charge nothing to take part in our walks
- We receive no funding
- Everything we do is voluntary

Helping run the group is part of a positive community service that many of us enjoy and find rewarding.

A huge thank you to Stan and Iain for sharing these additional photographs from our delightful evening walk. Amongst them, I can certainly spot four of the very best๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

The photos shared last night were equally fantastic and well worth another look, as there are so many wonderful moments and smiling faces to enjoy.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a warm, friendly, and enjoyable evening. Itโ€™s the people who attend that truly make Walk and Talk the special group it is.

Special thanks to Jane and Billie for leading the walk, and to Helen for keeping an eye on everyone as back marker.

Together, you created another memorable Walk and Talk evening filled with friendship, laughter, conversation, and plenty of summer sunshine. ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ˜„

๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ Jaunting with Jane near the Derbyshire Border๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ

What a day for an adventure. With a classic British mix of sunshine, showers, and the occasional heavy downpour, 21 of us cheerful walkers set off from The Duke of Wellington and wandered across to the Cowpastures.

Despite the ever-changing weather, spirits remained high, smiles were plentiful, and it was certainly the perfect day for anyone exercising a dog ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ˜„

๐Ÿ˜Š A little sunshine, a little rain, plenty of laughter, and good company โ€” that's what makes these walks memorable.

A huge thank you to Jane for leading today's enjoyable jaunt and to Helen for capturing the day with her wonderful photographs. ๐Ÿ“ธ

๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ Scrumptious Sherwood Pines โ€“ Serenity, Shade & Smiles ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ

Today's Walk and Talk adventure took us deep into the beautiful surroundings of Sherwood Pines, where the towering trees provided welcome shade and a wonderfully peaceful setting for our latest wander.

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ We wandered, we walked, and most importantly, we talked. The conversations started before we had even set foot on the trail and carried on right through until we finally left the cafรฉ. That's what Walk and Talk is all about โ€“ good company, good conversation, and great countryside.

Our stroll covered just under five miles in 1 hour and 55 minutes, with the forest trails being kind to our feet and the weather perfect for walking.

๐ŸŒณ Along the way we encountered some of the Forestry England logging operations. We had to make a slight detour as the forestry teams were busy clearing an area of woodland. Not only could we hear the trees being felled, but we were close enough to witness another giant pine dramatically bite the dust. The diversion added around 500 metres to our route, but who cares? We're young at heart and not a worry in the world๐Ÿ˜„

Todays walk only went ahead due to the Generosity of Forestry england as they offered s free parking.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us today and helped make another enjoyable Walk and Talk outing. the thanks Includes all in the Sherwood Pines Cafe and the jacket potato with beef and chilli was lovely.

Thanks to Rob for his post of todays walk and thanks to Iain for the photos

๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ Spectacular Scenic Saturday Stroll from Strutt's North Mill at Belper with Stan and Sheila๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

What a lovely morning for a walk. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make Walk and Talk such a welcoming and wholesome group. ๐Ÿ˜Š

"our walkers braved the wet forecast and had a lovely dry walk, found my hat on a bench that I didn't even know I'd lost when we did the rekki 2 weeks ago x" Sheila

With the warm weather making its presence felt, our planned distance seemed shorter but our smiles, conversations and enjoyment certainly blossomed along the way. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ

Thank you to Terry and Sheila for today's photographs. ๐Ÿ“ธ As more photos and information become available, I'll add them to this post, so please check back later today or tomorrow.

Looking ahead, next week's adventures continue as we head to the magnificent Sherwood Pines ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ โ€“ right in the heart of Sherwood and Clipstone Forest. And don't forget, parking charges are waived for us Walk and Talk participants. ๐Ÿ‘

Thank-you to the 21 walkers who came for todayโ€™s 5 2/3 mile walk which took us around the Mill Pond up over the viaduct and Sheepbridge Lane footbridge, down over the river Maun, across Oakham nature reserve. Down Bleak Hills
Lane across the railway bridge and round the reservoir. And then back alongside the river and finish off at Sandys bar.

20 walkers joined Rob for a 5.6mile stroll in just over 2hrs. Following the Maun River and the Timberland Trail over to King's Mill Reservoir - around the reservoir back along the Maun River and into Sandy's Bar at Stags. Lots of chat and laughter along the way which carried on with the 16 who went into the bar for food and liquid refreshments. Thanks to Rob for leading, Peter for back marking and to all the walkers. Tomorrow's walk is in Belper and Mondays walk is in Sherwood Pines (free parking)...

Thanks Rob for leading today's walk, and thank you for the photos and write-up. ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you to everyone who came along, and a special thank you to all at Sandy's for their hospitality and warm welcome. โ˜•๐Ÿ˜Š

Tomorrow we have a slightly longer Adventure Walk over at Belper, covering around six miles with just one gentle climb.

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ Saturday 6 Juneโ‹… Adventure Walk โ€“ Start 10:00 โ€“ 13:30
๐Ÿ“ Struttโ€™s North Mill,
Archway House,
Bridgefoot,
BELPER
DE56 1YD

https://www.belpernorthmill.org.uk/strutts-north-mill-museum-contact-us/

Expect a delightful walk of approximately six miles, featuring beautiful countryside, gentle rolling hills, fascinating scenery, and plenty of opportunities for conversation as we stroll together.

A few suggestions for Saturday:
โ€ข Walking boots are recommended.
โ€ข Long trousers are advisable.
โ€ข Please allow approximately 3ยฝ hours, including our mid-walk refreshment break.

๐Ÿš— If you're able to offer or share a lift to Belper, it would be greatly appreciated. Please arrange any car sharing amongst yourselves. With a 10:00 AM start, this walk is unfortunately not practical by public transport from Mansfield.

๐ŸŒฒ Then on Monday, come rain or shine, we will be walking at Sherwood Pines. normal time 11AM meeting near the car parking payment machines.

Thanks to the wonderful people at Forestry England, we have a concession which allows our walkers to park free of charge. When you arrive, I will need your vehicle registration number. If you park some distance from the meeting point, it may be helpful to take a photo of your number plate beforehand if you're likely to forget it.
