35 wonderful walkers, yes 35, joined Peter today for a lovely walk from Pleasley Pit on a slightly overcast Autumnal morning. We set off through the country park then headed down to back lane into Rowthorne, we then crossed the fields down to the Rowthorne Trail. We then followed the trail to the Teversal Trail then headed back to Pleasley Pit for a 4.2 mile walk. It was a joy to lead such a happy group with lots of talk and laughter. Thanks to Stuart for back marking and a big thank you to all who turned out! Tomorrow's walk is from the Pillar of Rock, Bolsover...

🍂 Tasty, Tantalising Tour, Traipsing the Trails from Vicar Water Country Park 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

What a wonderful Wednesday eve—oh, hang on, it's Tuesday 😄

A huge thank you to Helen for leading today's walk and guiding us on a lovely 4.2-mile ramble through the beautiful surroundings of Cavendish Wood and Sherwood Forest Fisheries, with the Enchanted Lake Café adding to the charm of our route. 🌳🍂

With everything looking so beautiful and inviting, it was a pleasure to be out enjoying the fresh air and good company.

And 31 happy walkers 👏 That's quite a following, Helen, and you should feel very proud. Seeing so many people turn out to enjoy a walk together is always rewarding and shows just how much our Walk and Talk family continues to grow. ❤️

🌧️ A Washout at Brierley Forest Park – But Safety Comes First🌧️

Unfortunately, today's walk at Brierley Forest Park, Huthwaite, had to be cancelled because of surface water and the ground conditions.

We can put up with a deluge or downpour while waiting for everyone to arrive, but we simply cannot take the risk of someone slipping and having an accident. The ground was desperately muddy, with what appears to be mainly clay, and with potholes potentially hidden beneath the puddles, it just wasn't worth the risk.

So, my apologies to everyone who turned up, but better safe than sorry ❤️

A big thank you to Helen for being there, and huge respect to the ten walkers who arrived expecting to join us. Your commitment to Walk and Talk is very much appreciated

😊 Well, I'm glad I turned up!

Although we didn't get our walk, I managed to replenish our October and November leaflets in the café, accept another five bookings for our Christmas Meal, and receive two bottles of spirits for our Christmas prizes. So, not a wasted morning after all.

🎄 Christmas Meal – Bookings and Prizes

A big thank you to everyone who has already booked, and to those who have donated prizes. If you have something suitable to donate, please bring it along for me to look after, and we can use it for our raffle or tombola. Alternatively, you can bring your donation along with you on the day of the meal.

📋 A little reminder about booking:

Our Christmas Meal must be booked in advance, so please collect a form from me, make your meal selections, complete the dietary requirements section if applicable, and return the completed form to me with full payment.

I'll be attending as many walks as I can over the next few weeks to collect forms and payments. If you're having difficulty getting your booking to me, please give me a call or drop me a message, and we'll find a way to sort it out.

One of today's would-be walkers even travelled across the district just to deliver her meal choices. Then its important not to miss out, that's dedication 👏😊

🚶 Tomorrow – Vicar Water Country Park

We'll meet at the car park at Vicar Water Country Park and, hopefully, the rain will have eased enough for us to enjoy our walk.

The good news is that the ground there is nothing like today's heavy clay. It's generally much more loamy and, in places, sandy, so let's hope conditions are kinder to us.

Keep your fingers crossed for a drier day, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. 🤞🌦️

🌦️ WALK AND TALK, WIND AND RAIN, SLEET AND SNOW, SUN AND SHINE☀️❄️🌧️
We don't care about the weather, as long as we're together ❤️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️
Throughout the year, we walk, we wander, we talk, we chat, we laugh, and above all, we care. 🥰
🌧️ We've walked in the rain.
❄️ We've braved the sleet and snow.
☀️ We've enjoyed those beautiful sunny days.
But whatever the weather throws at us, there's one thing that matters most: being together.

Most of the time, you'll find us outdoors, exploring our lovely local countryside, discovering new routes and enjoying the fresh air. 🌳🥾 But we're not always out on the trails. Sometimes we're indoors, sharing a meal, enjoying a quiz night, meeting up with friends, or filling the dance floor at one of our socials. 💃🕺🎶 And occasionally, we even climb aboard a coach for an adventure a little further afield🚌

Because Walk and Talk is about so much more than putting one foot in front of the other. It's about friendship, laughter, companionship and belonging. It's about making new friends, catching up with old ones, sharing experiences and knowing there's always a friendly face waiting to welcome you.

Our Christmas meal is another opportunity to come together, put our walking boots aside for a while and enjoy the company of the wonderful people who make Walk and Talk Mansfield and Ashfield what it is today.

Whether you've joined us for one walk or hundreds, whether you walk in sunshine or drizzle, or whether you simply enjoy our social events, you're part of our community.
So let's keep walking, keep talking, keep laughing and keep looking out for one another.

🍂 Pleasing Pleasley with Peter on a Perfect Prowl Across the Vale 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🌳

What a lovely day for a walk☀️ A big thank you to Peter for leading us, to Rob for back-marking and taking the photos, and to all of you who joined us for another wonderful outing.

Thankfully, Storm Austen and the rain held off until just before we left the pub 🌦️

It was another beautiful walk as summer slowly gives way to autumn. The trees are still full of leaves, with only a few beginning to show their autumn colours. 🍁

Our easy-going route took us across the fields and back through the beautiful woodland of Pleasley Vale. A peaceful, relaxing walk enjoyed by everyone, with plenty of fresh air and good company along the way.

And, of course, a big thank you to everyone at the White Swan for making us so welcome at the end of our walk. 🍻😊

That's what Walk and Talk is all about — good walks, good company and good times! ❤️

19 happy walkers joined Stuart for a jaunt from the Elm Tree, Elton, in glorious sunshine, down to Clowne, with a short stop at the old Railway Station. Then through Clowne and back to Elmton where 11 of us participated in liquid refreshmee. Thanks to Stuart for a lovely walk which was new to a lot of us. Thanks to Rob for back marking and to Rob, Sheila and Peter for photo's. Tomorrow's walk is from the White Swan, Pleasley....

🌳🍂 SHERWOOD FOREST — MAJESTIC TREES, MERRY WALKERS & A LITTLE DRIZZLE 🍂🌳

What a magical morning walking through the heart of Sherwood Forest, where the legendary Majors Oak still stands and although no longer growing still commands our admiration. 🌳❤️

A huge thank you to all for making our number 26. Wonderful walkers one and all, who joined me today. We strolled at a good pace around this fairly level circuit, covering a full 5 miles in just 2 hours. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️👏

🌦️ For the first hour, the rain stayed away, but then the drizzle arrived and stayed with us for the remainder of the walk. Thankfully, it was light, although it did seem to have a talent for finding its way through our waterproofs 😂

I chose what I thought were the easiest and cleanest paths, and it was lovely to see the forest still dressed in all its finery, not showing its full autumn colours and surprisingly only a few leaves having fallen. 🍁🍂 There's something special about walking through these ancient woodlands, whatever the weather.

😊 Now, I thought yesterday's walkers were the best, but today's were equally as good. And do you know what? That's exactly how it is on ALL our walks. We really are the best at what we do. ❤️🙌

👋 We welcomed just one new walker today, Christine, a local lass who knows these trails almost as well as I do. Unfortunately, that meant I couldn't even pretend to show her anything new or shake her off 🤣 (Christine if you want to share any snaps, you can add them individually as comments or WhatsApp me on 07979597279)

The only person I know with a hundred times my knowledge of these forest trails is Dave, who recently had to step down as a walk leader because of a sports injury. It was lovely to present him with a bottle of fine red w**e to help his dinner go down 🍷 — for any children reading this, it was ketchup 😂🍅

A big thank you, too, to everyone at The Royal Oak for being the fantastic hosts you always are. You coped brilliantly when 20 of us descended on you at around 1 pm. Your hospitality is always appreciated! 🍻🍽️
Amongst our brood the shoutouts to Tony for the video, Bea for the photos and assistance with the committee, Peter for the backmarking and Nig, terry, Ian, Iain and everyone else for keeping me company. Ooops and thanks for the sweets especially as i probably didn't bring enough.
