🎩✨ Step Back in Time: The Broadstairs Dickens Festival is Back!

Get your bonnets and top hats ready, because the 89th Annual Broadstairs Dickens Festival is officially taking over our beautiful seaside town from tomorrow Friday, 12th June to Sunday, 14th June 2026! 🌊

For three days, the streets of Broadstairs will transform into a living Victorian novel to celebrate the life, characters, and local history of Charles Dickens.

Get ready for:

📖 The Grand Parade - Watch characters from your favorite novels come to life marching through the town (Saturday at 12pm).

📖 Victorian Coastal Vibes - Catch the traditional Victorian Bathing Party down on Viking Bay and enjoy live music at the Bandstand.

📖 Fairs & Fun - Explore the Victorian Fair at Bleak House, the Antique Fair at Pierremont Hall, and catch a nightly production of Great Expectations at the Sarah Thorne Theatre.

✨ No festival trip is complete without stepping inside the Dickens House Museum, located right on the seafront (Open 1pm–4pm during the festival!).

Did you know this very cottage was Dickens’ real-life inspiration for the home of Betsey Trotwood in David Copperfield?

Inside, you can get up close to Dickens' actual writing box, letters he wrote right here in Broadstairs, Victorian costumes, and rare illustrations. It’s the ultimate way to connect with the history behind the festival! With dramatic reading across the weekend, characters are brought to life.

Big congratulations to two of our local museums for making Time Out’s list of the Top 20 Best Museums in the UK for 2026.

Margate's Crab Museum took the number one spot for its clever storytelling, while Ramsgate’s The Micro Museum was recognized for its hands-on display of vintage electronic tech.

A well-deserved achievement for both teams. If you haven't visited yet, it's a great time to check them out!

History is returning home! Witness over 25 of the original Dunkirk Little Ships in Ramsgate's Royal Harbour until 25 May.

They are part of the Ramsgate Little Ships - Operation Dynamo four-day extravaganza and you won't want to miss a moment!

The celebrations, which start today (Friday 22) and run until Monday 25 May, include military vehicle displays, parades, workshops, a giant Ferris Wheel, and live music all weekend.

See the 338 Standing With Giants silhouettes around the Royal Harbour and experience evening highlights like The Silent Return - We Are Shadows illuminated procession!
