60th Anniversary of the Aberfan Disaster – Road Closure Notice

On Wednesday 21st October 2026, a number of commemorative events are taking place in the village to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Aberfan Disaster.

As a result, the police have requested that Pantglas Road, Hillside Close, Moy Road and Coronation Place are closed to all moving traffic from 1900 on Tuesday 20th October until 1600 on Wednesday 21st October.

As Wales prepares to mark the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Rhondda Heritage Park Museum has launched a series of free local remembrance events for all to attend.
