Behind the scenes on bringing the Liberty Fountain to life for Meet Me By The Fountain at GDIF 2026!🙌

Before anything went to Romford, the full structure was assembled at our HQ. With the fountain set to be 3D projection mapped, this was our chance to check every dimension and proportion against the design, so we could be confident the mapping would align once it was on site.

It was then taken down and reconstructed in Romford Market - a 5m x 5m base at 1m, rising to a 9m tower, built from Layher Allround and Event System components and finished with custom structural plywood panels.

From CAD to pre-build to market square, it was a real team effort.

Meet Me By The Fountain was created by Variable Matter, produced by Havering London in partnership with Greenwich+Docklands International Festival. Part of Havering Unearthed. Supported by Arts Council England, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Havering Council, Romford BID and Historic England.

👉 Standard and spoked handrails in 2ft, 4ft, 6ft and 8ft lengths
👉 Black finishes for a clean, discreet look on show
