he top of the High Street directly overlooks Dunsters famous Yarn Market and has remained mostly unchanged having been lovingly restored with the aim of retaining the unique and charming features of bygone days and carefully combining these with the essential contemporary comforts required by 21 century guests. The hotel was awarded 'Inn of the Year 2016' by The Good Pub Guide.

29 en suite bedrooms are all furnished and equipped to the highest standards providing the comfort and ambiance that guests would expect from this famous hotel bearing the aristrocratic name of the Luttrell family whose imposing castle defines Dunster and the surrounding area. Within the ancient building there are many interesting architectural features and antiques including 5 fine four poster beds. The Head Chef leads an enthusiastic team of chefs who pride themselves in providing menus to suit all occasions whether it be a hearty breakfast, swift and light lunchtime snack or a special dining occasion. The aim being that finest local ingredients are sourced and used to create memorable food and the standards of service to ensure that our customers are eager to return on future occasions.

This summer, the beautiful grounds of Dunster will play host to two fantastic polo events, organised by the Dunster Estate Team, bringing together thrilling sport, community spirit and fundraising in a truly stunning setting.

📅 Charity Polo Tournament for Home Start West Somerset Home-Start West Somerset - Friday 31st July 2026 - Gates open: 4.00pm | Tournament starts: 6.00pmn - In collaboration with Taunton Vale Polo Club & Dunster Estate.

📅 Exmoor Polo Tournament - Saturday 29th August 2026 - Gates open: 11.00am | Tournament starts: 2.30pm - Featuring Exmoor Artisan Traders and an exciting day of polo action. Raising funds for the National Park's CareMoor charity.
