Staying with us this weekend? If you fancy a weekend of history on your doorstep, Hanwell Castle (OX17 1HN) is hosting a Weekend of Archaeology and Living History on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September, supported by The Sealed Knot and Lord John Robartes Hys Regiment of Foote.

Expect drama, live music, crafts people, a pop up museum, an archaeological dig and even Hanwell Observatory, plus the hunt for Royalist spy Richard Allestree.

Free parking, tea and cake, admission is £5 with under 12s free. Open 11am to 6pm Saturday and 10.30am to 4.30pm Sunday. Well worth the trip if you're staying with us at, just a short drive away.

🇮🇩 Indonesian street food is popping up at Anita's this Saturday! Last food van of the season!

Saturday, 5-8pm — authentic Indonesian street food, cooked fresh from scratch. Vegan and vegetarian options available (Mie Goreng or Nasi Goreng).

Two ways to get yours:

1. Skip the queue — preorder before 4pm via WhatsApp or text to 07984861586. Just send your name, ANITAS, your order and a ready time, and it'll be waiting for you.

2. Order at the van — after 4pm, head straight to the van and order on the day (phones won't be manned after this point).

Got dietary needs? Message the vendor directly before Saturday so they can sort you out.

Come hungry, this one's not to be missed. See you there!

Autumn camping gets a bad reputation it doesn't deserve. Golden light, crisp mornings, peaceful pitches, and skies like this one, still warm enough to get some sitting outside time.

This is what a September stay at Anita's looks like right now, and honestly, we think it might be the best time of year to visit. Fewer crowds, cosier evenings, and the countryside doing its best autumn colours.

Oxfordshire is full of surprises once you start looking. Ancient stone bridges, honey coloured villages, rolling countryside that changes with every season. It's the kind of place you want to explore slowly, and we happen to think a stay with us is the perfect base for doing exactly that.

• Science Oxford Family Day, Headington — Sat 10am-5pm
• An Evening with Kaleb Cooper, Chipping Norton — Fri 7:30pm
