📢 Your evidence matters.
Defra's call for evidence on gamebird release, shooting and welfare could influence future policy decisions.

We are strongly encouraging anyone with an interest in shooting, whether directly involved in running or participating in a shoot or supporting the sector through hospitality or tourism, to take part in this process.

It’s vital that the full breadth of perspectives across the rural economy is represented.

We've asked for more time to allow practitioners to contribute fully, but as things stand, submissions close on 1 November.

Please take the time to submit your comments to Defra and copy in your local MP to help raise awareness of the importance of the sector to your area.

Scottish Land & Estates has told MPs that improving broadband and mobile coverage across rural Scotland should be measured by the benefits it delivers to people and businesses, not just the amount of land covered.

Reliable connectivity supports everything from farming and forestry to payments, tax compliance and business growth. SLE is also calling for greater accountability for telecommunications operators and stronger protections for landowners hosting infrastructure.

The message is clear: successful rural connectivity starts with asking how best to connect communities, not simply where to place infrastructure.

Fly-tipping is a crime that continues to impact Scotland’s countryside, leaving landowners and farmers to deal with damaged landscapes and costly clean-ups.

That’s why we’re supporting Fly-Tipping Fortnight 2026, a campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy to promote responsible waste disposal and encourage people to use licensed waste carriers.

Scottish Land & Estates has long campaigned for stronger action and tougher penalties to tackle fly-tipping and protect rural communities.
