This week I celebrated my retirement as a physical therapist.
For the last 27 years, I've had the privilege of working with children with special needs in schools. I've watched them reach milestones that many of us take for granted - crawling, standing, taking their first steps, skipping, jumping, and watching their development evolve. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
During the week one of my students gave me this drawing.
It's their version of what they think the sea view in Newcastle looks like.
I smiled when I saw it because it perfectly captures something I've always loved about children - they don't see the world exactly as it is, they see it as it feels.
In a few weeks as a new chapter begins, we'll be back at Peaks & Tides Retreat, looking out at the real sea and mountains once again. Until then, I think I'll treasure this version just as much.
