There’s still room for a night away, or a full weekend, at our three-bedroom Georgian B&B in Newnham-on-Severn, on the edge of the Forest of Dean.

By late October, the Forest of Dean is changing colour. November brings quieter paths, walks beside the River Severn and time to explore the Wye Valley. Newnham is a good place to return to for dinner, with breakfast waiting at the Press the following morning.

All three bedrooms are dog-friendly, and our homemade breakfast is included with every stay.

Whether you’re looking for a one-night stay in the Forest of Dean, a dog-friendly weekend in Gloucestershire or a two-night break near the Wye Valley, these are the dates worth considering.

Our next two weekends:

Saturday 31 October — rooms available for a one-night stay.

Friday 6 November — our Classic Double is available for one night, or combine it with Saturday for a two-night break.

Saturday 7 November — all three rooms available for a one-night stay or a weekend booking, subject to availability.

There is something rather satisfying about making your own Christmas wreath.

Choosing the branches, deciding what goes where, changing your mind, and discovering that the finished result looks nothing like the one you had imagined.

Last year, some of our guests had made wreaths before. Others hadn’t. By the end of the afternoon, no two looked alike.

We’re bringing the workshop back this November, as part of a two-night Christmas weekend at Severnside Press.

It’s deliberately scheduled for the last weekend before December, when there’s still time to enjoy the preparations rather than rush through them.

There will be foraging around Newnham-on-Severn, wreath-making at the Press, meals The George Community Hub and Post. , and time to explore the Forest of Dean.

27–29 November 2026.

We have just one room remaining for the weekend. Packages start at £350 per person, with a 15% discount for payment in full or the option to pay in three instalments.

Christmas Day at the Press.

If you’re spending Christmas on your own this year, we’d love you to join us.

We’ll be opening our doors for a free Christmas lunch, with good food, a glass of something lovely and a few hours around the table together.

Breakfast at the Press.

A little of what happens in the kitchen before the day gets going.

Coffee brewing, eggs on the stove, plates coming together and conversations continuing long after breakfast has been served.

It’s one of the parts of running the Press we enjoy most — cooking for our guests and getting to know the people staying with us.

Breakfast is included with every stay.

A Severnside Christmas

Last November, the dining room disappeared beneath greenery, dried flowers, pine cones and half-made wreaths.

We’re doing it again.

27–29 November

Two nights at the Press, Friday supper, Saturday foraging, lunch The George Community Hub, wreath-making around the table with , dinner at Post. — and Sunday left largely to itself.

There will be tea, cake and a considerable amount of greenery — and a £50 goodie bag of locally made produce to take home.

Two of our three rooms are already booked. One remains.

Packages from £350 per person, with payment available in three instalments.

Autumn at the Press

The Forest is beginning to change.

September still has plenty of green in it, but the mornings are cooler now and October is not far away — good walking weather, dinners back in the village and breakfast at the Press the following morning.

We still have a handful of September nights available, including some space between 21–25 September, and there is good availability through October too.

Come for two nights, leave the car where it is, walk from Newnham or head into the Forest, have dinner somewhere nearby and see what autumn is doing.

All three of our rooms are dog-friendly, and breakfast is included with every stay.
