The hotel has been owned and run by the Hassell Family since 1998. Fourth generation, Devon hoteliers with a keen eye for detail and with staff who know how to make you feel at home. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday 🥾

A few tired legs, plenty of smiles and 15km of beautiful Dartmoor scenery later, we've completed our Walk for Wellbeing!

Even better, we've raised over £10,000 for Hospitality Action, helping them provide much-needed support to people working in hospitality.

And what better way to finish than with a well-earned Devon cream tea! A special thank you to Langage Farm Dairy for the clotted cream, Waterhouse Fayre for the homemade jam, and Dartmoor Brewery and Otter Brewery for their support.

A huge thank you to our friends at Bovey Castle, everyone who walked with us and all those who generously donated. We're so pleased to have been part of Devon's first Walk for Wellbeing!

This Sunday, some of our team will be swapping their usual surroundings for 15km of Dartmoor! 🥾

We're taking part in Hospitality Action's Walk for Wellbeing, walking from Bovey Castle to Ilsington Country House Hotel & Spa alongside others from the hospitality industry.

It's all in support of a cause close to our hearts: looking after the mental health and wellbeing of the people who work in hospitality, and reminding each other how important it is to look out for one another.

We're looking forward to getting out on the moor together, and hopefully raising plenty for a wonderful cause along the way!

Autumn evenings were made for the warmth of the spa 🍂

The light fading over Dartmoor, the warmth of the water, and a few quiet hours tucked away from the darker evening outside. Followed, of course, by something delicious in the Blue Tiger.

We have some rather lovely news from the Food Drink Devon Awards! 🏆

Our Restaurant has been awarded Gold in the Hotel Restaurant category for 2026/27, and we couldn't be more pleased!

George, our Trainee Manager, Liv, our Restaurant Supervisor, and Richard, our Owner, were there to celebrate on the night and bring home the award.

The recognition means a great deal to us, particularly with the awards celebrating quality, sustainability and provenance, all things that are so important to the way we approach food here at Ilsington.

And we couldn't resist sharing one lovely comment from the judges, who described our desserts as “the best we'd had this judging season”. Our kitchen team were very pleased with that!

A wonderful achievement for everyone involved, from the chefs creating each dish to the team looking after our guests in the Restaurant. We're incredibly proud of them all!
