🔥 FIRE UPDATE

Fires are back. Common sense is still mandatory.

🔥 Fire pits are fine. We have a few spares, although describing them as “premium equipment” would be wildly optimistic.

🪵 No logs for sale, so bring your own.

🍖 Proper BBQs are fine too, just keep them off the grass.

🚫 Disposable BBQs are now permanently banned. They’ve been judged, sentenced and will not be returning.

Basically: cook your tea, enjoy the fire and please don’t cremate the campsite.

Also: if you get any odd urgent booking messages from us today, ignore them for now. I’m actually camping for once and have sporadic WiFi, so I’m updating the booking system whenever the internet decides to grace me with its presence…

📣 A LITTLE END OF SEASON UPDATE

We officially close for camping on Sunday 13th September, so both camping and the bell tents will stay open right up until then. ⛺️

The Stable Takeaway would normally finish for the season this Bank Holiday weekend… BUT if we’re busy enough, we’ll keep the bacon frying for the first two weekends in September too. 🥓☕️

So if you’re staying with us in September, double check Facebook before emotionally committing to a breakfast bap. 😂

And then we close the gates and have a lovely rest…

Obviously not.

Between now and then we’re hoping to escape for a camping trip ourselves, the kids go back to school and then on 19th September it’s the Mower Mayhem Championship finale. So brace yourselves. 🏁😂

After that the bell tents come down for the winter and they’ll both be going up for sale, the campsite has to be put to bed, the fields need reseeding and, if all goes to plan, Julie’s rams will be moving in for the winter to spread their love around the place. 💩💩

Then there’s a barn with rotten bits to finish replacing, next year’s Live Weekender to plan and tickets to get on sale, another Mower Mayhem season to organise…

…and we may even chuck in some sort of winter evening in the barn, because apparently we’re incapable of just shutting up shop and hibernating like normal people, much to the families dismay!

So yes, camping season might nearly be over.

Hennock Hideaways, however, absolutely is not. 😂

🌧️ BANK HOLIDAY WEATHER: ABSOLUTE PANTS.

Apparently summer has looked at the calendar, realised it’s a Bank Holiday and done exactly what British weather does best. 😂

BUT… we are open, the campsite is very much alive and The Stable Takeaway is open this weekend for breakfast, coffee and emergency bacon related morale boosting. ☕️

And if you’d rather dodge the Bank Holiday altogether…

🚨 THE STABLE TAKEAWAY - EARLY FINISH THIS SUNDAY 🚨

This Sunday The Stable Takeaway will be closing at 10am instead of 11am because Mower Mayhem has an away race and, seeing as we organise the chaos, we probably ought to be there. 🏁😂

So if you’re after a proper coffee, breakfast bap or full brekkie, get in early.

Open 8.30am – 10am this Sunday

Then it’s off to prove that ride on mowers were never meant to be driven like this. 🏁

A lovely one for the village and a cause that’s very close to my heart ❤️

Hennock Village Hall are holding an Afternoon Tea in aid of Breast Cancer Now this Saturday, 22nd August, from 2pm to 5pm.

There’ll be tea, cakes, games and a raffle, so if you’re around, pop in and support a brilliant cause.

And if you’re staying with us at Hennock Hideaways this weekend, you’d be very welcome to wander down and join in too 💕

🔥 IMPORTANT PUBLIC CONSULTATION 😂 🔥

I’m considering permanently banning disposable BBQs from Hennock Hideaways.

Not normal BBQs. We like BBQs.

Just those flimsy foil trays of misery.

They cut my fingers when I squash them down, they’re greasy and revolting to handle, an absolute bar steward to dispose of and, genuinely, I’d rather deal with a poo covered campsite toilet.

So I’m putting it to the people…

👍 LIKE = BAN THE BLOODY THINGS

😡 ANGRY = Keep them. I enjoy cooking sausages on a foil ashtray.

Raised proper BBQs and gas BBQs would still be absolutely fine.

Democracy. But with sausages. 🔥😂
