That moment when you’re craving fresh baking, but you definitely don’t need a batch of 12 calling your name from the counter all week! 🧁✨
Today was all about mastering the half-batch ratio—aiming for just 5 or 6 muffins so there are zero leftovers, and I think I nailed it!
I set out to make my usual orange and almond muffins topped with pecans, made extra wholesome with wholemeal flour. Of course, standard baking rules apply: the second you start, you realize you’re completely out of flaked almonds... even though you could swear you bought a bag just the other day! 😅
Pecan nuts stepped up to save the day, and honestly? No regrets. Warm, citrusy, perfectly portioned, and not a single muffin wasted! 🍊🌰

There’s nothing quite like bringing a piece of home—and history—to the breakfast table! 🥐✨
This morning’s spread features individual mini sbriciolata cakes, made using a prized recipe given to me years ago by my very first boss. I’ve adapted the original recipe into perfect single-serving sizes for our guests, baking up a fresh batch with three delicious variations:
Fresh Fig: Sweet seasonal fruit nestled in a delicate, buttery crumb.
Pistachio & Caramel: Rich cream paired with a hint of warm caramel sweetness.
Nutella: The ultimate classic Italian comfort treat.
It felt especially fitting to serve these today as we welcomed another lovely family from Italy to Seaholm! Nothing makes a morning feel more like home than the scent of fresh baking and good conversation around the table. ☕🇮🇹✨

Some days, everything runs like clockwork. Other days, the plate on top of the stack decides to choose violence. 🍳💥
Picture this: a full table of 8 hungry folks eagerly waiting on breakfast, I walk out proud with the first 3 plates... and the top plate decides to take a literal leap of faith. Straight to the floor. Straight to the wall.
If you were sitting nearby today, thanks for sharing a laugh with me while I grabbed the mop. To our regulars—you know this isn’t the usual routine! 🤪
