Well we haven't seen a squirrel in our garden for quite some time and now we have a regular visitor again...

Well now I know who has been destroying the ivy! The woodpigeon worked on it for a good five minutes and then gave up! There are plenty of broken twigs on the ground but I guess the flexibility of the ivy would weave well for the nest. I might go and cut a few lengths and leave near the pot.

I spotted these large birds at Welton pond and was unable to identify them by looking in my bird book, but I think they are guinea fowl- rather unusual seeing them by the pond in Welton!

Yorkshire Wolds Way walkers are now starting to arrive, staying for a night or two, having booked via Contours Walking Holidays. The guests usually arrive late afternoon or early evening. Then, after a comfortable night's sleep, a good choice for breakfast is included, with the option to purchase packed lunches, if required. Contours arrange for a taxi to take the walkers to the start of the walk at Hessle, and also arrange further taxis as necessary, together with luggage transfers between accommodation stops. The Yorkshire Wolds Way is 79 miles from Hessle to Filey.

It has been a lovely Christmas this year as we decided to open for bookings and several guests are staying over the festive period. I've just got the breakfast room ready for five who will be having their breakfasts tomorrow morning.....
