Riverside Northampton has become even more secure with Mountain Warehouse joining the NBCP. We are delighted to welcome Lydia and her team and I know she will add so much value to the partnership, with bags of enthusiasm and experience.
With M & S and Poundland joining Next at Riverside recently, the retail park is becoming a "no go" area for thieves.

A 47-year-old man who has continued to cause distress and alarm to members of the public in Wellingborough town centre, has been issued with a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order.

The order was granted by Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 19, following a successful joint application submitted by the Wellingborough Neighbourhood Policing and Anti-Social Behaviour Teams.

Jack Gardner, of Pope Road, Wellingborough, was made the subject of the order after appearing at the same court charged with six breaches of a Community Protection Notice between September 4 and 23 this year.

It also follows numerous complaints to the neighbourhood policing team about Gardner’s aggressive and intimidating behaviour towards members of the public who declined to give him money.

Gardner also became verbally abusive when asked to move away from areas within the town centre, which has had an adverse impact on the community as people go about their day-to-day business.

This criminal behaviour order states that Gardner must not:

• Enter a designated area of Wellingborough town centre
• Consume alcohol in public other than on a licenced premises
• Possess an open vessel of alcohol within the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) area
• Approach people to ask for money or to cause them alarm, distress, or nuisance.

If Gardner fails to comply with the Criminal Behaviour Order, he faces arrest as well as the risk of further prosecution.

Anti-social Behaviour Sergeant Grace Manwaring of Northamptonshire Police said: “Tackling and preventing anti-social behaviour remains a priority for the Force, which includes making our town centres and public spaces safer places for everyone.

“We have exhausted all other avenues to try and tackle Jack Gardner’s poor behaviour, but he has shown absolutely no regard for the law or others. His behaviour was having a detrimental effect on the local area, and we simply cannot let this continue.

“The Anti-Social Behaviour Team worked together with the Wellingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team to secure the order and without the hard work and good working relationship between our departments this would not have been possible.

“The neighbourhood policing team worked tirelessly with the community to collate evidence and with the support of their colleagues in the Anti-Social Behaviour Team, this resulted in the order being granted.
“By issuing details of the order along with his photograph, we can make the community aware of the restrictions imposed. If anyone sees Gardner breaching the terms of this order, please report it so we can take further action.”

Jenni and I had the pleasure of meeting with Dan Haywood of Poundland today and we are delighted that all the Northamptonshire stores, including PEP&CO, will be joining the partnership. With locations throughout the county, this will not only benefit those stores directly and will give staff another level of security, but will hugely benefit the communities in which the stores are located.
We thank Dan for his support and his enthusiasm and we look forward to working with him in the future.

Fabulous morning down in Towcester and Brackley as their Tesco stores sign up to the NBCP. This means nearly all the county's Tesco stores, large and small are members and with our excellent relationship with their security hub, our partnership with Tesco is incredibly strong. This can only be of benefit to all parties with exception to those who practice their criminality at these stores.
We continue to work hard in South Northants and expect other large retailers to join us soon.

A prolific thief has been issued with a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order after he persistently targeted four retailers in the Duston area of Northampton.

The order was granted by Northampton Magistrates’ Court on July 23, following a successful application by Northamptonshire Police’s Anti-Social Behaviour and Civil Order Team.

Simon Boswell, aged 44, of Candace Court, Northampton, was made subject of the order after he appeared in front of magistrates to be sentenced after he pleaded guilty to 16 offences of theft from shops at the same court on July 1.

Over a two-month period, between April 26 and June 26 this year, Boswell targeted the One Shop in Main Road, Duston, stealing more than £2,290 worth of items including alcohol, confectionary, meat, cheese, coffee, ci******es, household products, and toiletries.

In addition to the Criminal Behaviour Order, Boswell was also sentenced to a 12-month community order and tag monitoring with exclusions matching the order, three-month drug rehabilitation requirement, and 20 days rehabilitation activity requirement.

Anti-social Behaviour Sergeant Grace Manwaring of Northamptonshire Police said: “Simon Boswell is a persistent shoplifter who has targeted the same stores repeatedly and when staff have challenged him, he has often responded with abusive and threatening behaviour.

"His actions have caused fear and upset for shop workers and customers alike. We hope the Criminal Behaviour Order will help protect retail staff, who have the right to work in a safe environment without fear of crime.

"Northamptonshire Police will use all available powers to tackle offenders like Boswell. The fact that he has also been sent to prison shows that this kind of behaviour has serious consequences.

"By publishing details of the order and his photograph, we want retail staff and the public to understand the restrictions he must follow. If anyone sees Boswell breaking the conditions, we ask them to report it to us straight away by calling 101 so we can take appropriate action.”

This criminal behaviour order states Boswell must not:

• Enter any Northamptonshire One Stop Shop, Co-op, Tesco or Marks & Spencer stores
• Enter Main Road or Limehurst Square, Duston as per the map provided for any reason
• Enter Sixfields, Upton as per the map provided for any reason
• Enter Northamptonshire premises from which he has been banned or excluded from
• Remain on any premises in Northamptonshire when he has been asked to leave by staff or any person with authority to make such a request
• Behave in a manner which he knows or ought to know is likely to cause annoyance, alarm or distress to any person in Northamptonshire

If Boswell fails to comply with the Criminal Behaviour Order, he risks being arrested and prosecuted further.
