Reshaping and hand-carving the grip geometry from a standard pistol grip to a traditional rounded Prince of Wales grip, to suit the client's hands.

Next stage is chequering and blending in the finish.

Cutting diamonds by hand

Hand chequering the grip on this Beretta SO5 stock. 24 lines per inch with a slim border. This works out to be approximately 1 millimeter per line in each direction. Just remember - don't slip!

Before & After: Browning 725.
Grip Modification, Refinish + Chequering

The coarse chequering, coupled with a huge trap forend made this Browning very unpleasant to shoot.

We slimmed the forend right down, reshaped both grips to fit the client's hand and re-cut all the chequering by hand, for a much more elegant and refined feel.

The tired old varnish was removed and the stock was finished with our own gunstock oil and wax.
