The world beneath your feet
Woodland soil is a complex, breathing organism, transforming dead organic matter into plant nutrients, cycling carbon, and filtering water.
The soil is teeming with life supporting the growth of plants and trees, as well as maintaining the whole woodland ecosystem. Everything above ground depends on what’s happening below it.
Soil across the country is under pressure from intensive agricultural practices, including heavy use of fertilizers, pesticides, and excessive tillage, which degrade the soil structure and destroy beneficial microbiomes.
We create an environment in our woodland that helps support its natural ecology.
