Wonderful run upto Christmas
🎄 Thinking of visiting Haworth this Christmas? Save this.
Few places in England feel quite as made for Christmas as Haworth. The steep cobbled Main Street, old stone buildings, glowing shop windows and Yorkshire moors beyond already look like something from a Victorian Christmas card — and in December the village really comes alive.
If you’re planning a visit in 2026, the weekend you choose matters.
🔥 5–6 December: Torchlight Weekend, with the famous procession making its way up Main Street as darkness falls.
🎶 12–13 December: Music Weekend, with choirs, bands and festive performances around the village.
🐴 19–20 December: Nativity Weekend, including the traditional procession through Haworth with musicians, local children and real donkeys.
There are also late-night shopping evenings on 3 and 17 December, when the village’s independent shops stay open into the evening.
Don’t rush straight through Main Street either. At the top of the hill you’ll find the Brontë Parsonage Museum, the former home of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë, while down below Haworth station connects to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, where steam trains make the journey feel even more special at Christmas.
A few practical tips: Haworth is very steep, the cobbles can be slippery in winter, and the busiest Christmas weekends attract plenty of visitors, so arrive earlier than you think you need to. And although Haworth under snow is spectacular, don’t rely on getting it — Yorkshire weather has its own plans.
If we had to choose just one day, we’d go on Saturday 5 December: arrive around lunchtime, explore the village and Parsonage during the afternoon, find somewhere warm for a drink, then head back towards Main Street before the Torchlight Procession begins.
Haworth is beautiful at any time of year.
At Christmas, it feels like another century. ❄️
