🏛️ A Glimpse into the History of Malmaison Oxford 📖

Did you know that Malmaison Oxford is one of the city's most unique hotels? Once known as Oxford Prison, this remarkable building opened in 1071 as part of Oxford Castle and served as a prison for nearly 900 years.

After the prison closed in 1996, it was carefully transformed into the stylish Malmaison Oxford we know today. Many of the original features—including the stone walls, iron doors, and former prison cells—have been preserved, giving guests a truly unforgettable experience where history meets luxury.

From medieval fortress to Victorian prison and now a boutique hotel, Malmaison Oxford is a fascinating reminder of the city's rich and ever-evolving past.
