Don't judge a book by it's cover!
That was a very apt way of describing our recent outing.
We felt it was important to give this place a mention..
For a while now we have seen posts on social media from The Crowne at Worthington.
We weren't aware of it before but it's great to see a business trying to think outside the box to increase customer base.
So we thought we would make a visit..
Initially we were sceptical. Not the nicest drive leading up to the pub from Standish, having to go through an Industrial estate.
When we arrived, again first impressions of the car park and rear entrance it was tired. Nice fields at the front and rear.
Inside was better, nice decor, needs a refresh but great to see so many beers on tap.
Lovely friendly welcome, staff couldn't be more helpful. Nice selection of food, again the look of the menus need improving.
We weren't ready for the delicious food that arrived! We had three courses taking advantage of the 50% discount offer on Mondays.
Large portion sizes and each course was perfectly cooked.
Triple cooked pork belly, Beef burger followed by the Sticky toffee pudding.
Pork belly was succulent, sauce a little overpowering for the dish but it was still very tasty.
The burger was wonderfully moist with a lovely char, lots of flavour and nice chips on the side. One of the best burgers we have had in a long time.
The Sticky toffee pudding was perfectly balanced. Correct density (some can be too heavy or too light) and the sweetness was just right.
It really was a lovely meal.
If they could do a little TLC outside and inside this would be a cracking place.
We have added the current offers and the menus.
