Tomorrow’s NIDDERDALE ULTRA CHALLENGE — follow along, say hello and support Damian and the other runners with this amazing challenge.....its 'only' 55 miles!!

Some of you don't know, but we have have two defibrillators on site, the community one at the top of the touring site, available and accessable 24/7 to the general public, was purchased on the £999 scheme with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service by funds raised on site by you! The second was purchased by your sponsorship for Damians 111 mile Ultra marathon challenge around the dale and was purchased in memory of my husband Neil and was placed centrally on our static site.....so please show your support and get him over the finish line!

Message from Damian.....

Tomorrow, Saturday 24th October, I’m taking on the Nidderdale Ultra again — around 55 miles, starting from Pateley Bridge at 7:30 a.m. I’m hoping to get round in about 13 hours, so roughly an 8:30 p.m. finish, depending on how the legs behave!

So many people generously supported our fundraising for the defibrillator at Riverside, and I’ve always appreciated the encouragement and interest in these little adventures.

Look for Damo Sharp to see where I am on the course. The podium icon shows estimated arrival times at the checkpoints and a predicted finish time, updated according to my progress.

It's a full field of runners with a 0730 start tomorrow morning from The Pateley Bridge Showground. The route brings me back through Pateley Bridge during the race, as well as for the finish. If anyone fancies a wander out to say hello as I plod past, the tracker should help you judge when to head out. It would be lovely to see a few familiar faces along the way.

I’ve included a photo of Reggie wearing a medal from a couple of years ago — some of you might recognise my usual training partner!

They are running the event in reverse from previous years so it will be the Scarhouse section first and Ripley will be at near the end at around mile 48.

ROAD CLOSURE
There is currently a road closure between Risplith to Stephenson Bridge (by Grantley Hall) that is causing some disruption. There is a diversion in place that I am told is difficult to navigate with larger vehicles/caravans, so please be aware if you are travelling from that direction.
The closure is expected to be in place until September 27th.

Today's bowling match was great fun in the sun.....yes we lost, but it was so close and only took 7 hours and only 10 points in it!! So come on you losers, buck your ideas up and get some practice in for next year.....promise to check the dimensions of the next trophy, it looked bigger in the picture! Congratulations to the winning team....Pateley Bridge Bowling Club.......we'll be back.....dont lose that trophy!!🏆

The team are limbering up in readiness.............they refused my offer of a 'Barbara Windsor' style workout in front of reception.........🫣🙄
The match starts at 11am, but will be on most of the day if you get chance to call and support our players, please do.
