Askham Hall has been in our family since 1724 and is now home to Allium, our Michelin-starred restaurant. It holds many happy memories for us, is very special to us and we’d like to share it with you. We invite you to make it your own, whether it’s for your time dining with us, for a night, for your wedding or while you take it o

ver exclusively for your own celebration or event. Enjoy our own home-grown, home-reared produce, wander our kitchen gardens, read the dedications in our family books, curl up in our library in front of the fire, take an aperitif in our Drawing room, lay your head for the night in one of our bedrooms. Askham Hall seems grand, and it’s certainly a beautiful building, but at its heart it’s a family home and so it’s lived-in, loved and relaxed – with well-worn flag floors, big squashy sofas, stacks of books, jugs of flowers from the garden and art and antiques that we’ve grown up with. Join us on Sunday, 21st June 2026, for a special day in our beautiful gardens!

We're absolutely delighted to be opening our gates once again for the National Garden Scheme Open Day, a scheme we've proudly supported for over 30 years!

When: Sunday 21st June, 11:30am - 7:00pm
Where: Askham Hall Gardens
Entry: £8 per adult, under-16s free
Refreshments: Hot & cold drinks, homemade cakes, and delicious pizzas are available throughout the day!

The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands and raises impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities through admissions, refreshments and it’s something we’ve always been very proud to support.

Whether you're a seasoned gardening enthusiast or simply looking for a beautiful day out with family and friends, we'd love to welcome you. Stroll through our gardens, enjoy the summer atmosphere, and know that your visit is helping to care for others.

A few spaces remain for upcoming Bright Birds art session on Thursday 11th June at Askham Hall.

Join us from 1pm–3pm for a relaxed afternoon of painting and creativity. We'll be creating colourful bird-inspired artwork in a welcoming atmosphere perfect for all abilities.

Indulge in the height of summer at Askham Hall with our exclusive two-night wine escape. Experience exceptional dining, curated wines, and luxury accommodation within the historic walls of the Lowther family home.

Your journey begins with a refined three-course dinner and carefully selected wines on Tuesday evening, followed by a guided garden tour with our Head Gardeners on Wednesday. The main event features a four-course banquet hosted by Richard Swale & Nico Chieze, with guest wine connoisseur Richard Bracken celebrating the finest English and French summer wines.
