Tarn Sike Woodland Retreat

On Wednesday last week we set off to Pod Factory to see our pods.

It didn't quite to to plan due to a 4 hour hold up on the M6, Pod Factory UK booked us one of their AvantGlamp pods so we could stay overnight and see our pods next day.

All very much worth the effort, we are so pleased with how our pods are looking and cannot wait for them to arrive at Tarn S**e Glamping soon.

We've had a busy month at Tarn S**e. 🌿
Three Valais Blacknose sheep have moved in — they absolutely love a digestive biscuit.

The site has been coming on beautifully. Tracks are in, the bridge foundation is done, and we've had the lake tested for water quality. The results were so good I felt I had no choice but to jump in myself.

We're visiting the factory on 10th June to view our pods and they will be on site at the start of July.

Spring has arrived at Tarn S**e and we have started construction! Exciting 😁

We are beginning with the car park area,
the paths our guests will take down the side of the lake and the bridge over the river. There is lots to do but we are in safe hands with the team from A&R landscapes Cumbria

We will also be installing ducting and cables for our lighting and EV chargers as we go.

Last week was quite chilly at Tarn S**e although we didn't have any snow. The river (where the site gets its name) froze over, as did our lake. It was absolutely stunning.

We are having one of our dry stone walls at the site rebuilt by Phil Hughes and his team, Phil captured the photo of the beautiful little robin which was keeping an eye on them all week.

We’re delighted to share that planning permission has been granted for our new glamping site – Tarn S**e Woodland Retreat – which we will be developing in 2026! 🎉

Set in peaceful woodland beside our small private lake here at our home in Raisbeck, Orton, Cumbria, Tarn S**e will feature luxury en-suite pods designed to give you the perfect mix of comfort and adventure in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🌲

We can’t wait to bring this special project to life and share the progress with you — from site plans to behind-the-scenes progress as we build a secluded retreat for walkers, cyclists, nature-lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape.
