On Saturday night, we had the pleasure of hosting food writer Sudi Pigott at The Cartford, to celebrate the launch of her brilliant new book, Consider the Anchovy.

And consider it we did. Patrick put together a three-course menu built entirely around the anchovy - with an obligatory nod to Lancashire and France along the way, naturally.

It was a pleasure to host Sudi, and equally to share the room with so many like-minded people - proper foodie nerds, for lack of a better term.

We’ve got news!

Our new à la carte menu drops this Friday (tomorrow) and it’s the most significant change we’ve made in quite some time.

Well, there you have it. After 14 years, Danny boy has officially left the building.

He is, in every sense, synonymous with this place. Often the first through the door in the morning, last to leave in the evening - the face (and the quiff) that greeted you on the way in, and sent you on your way at the end of the night. He’s been part of almost every chapter of The Cartford: the highs, the lows, and all the colourful stuff in between. If you wanted a case study in what a career in hospitality can look like when you give it everything - Danny is it.

He walked through our doors as a slightly undernourished, wide-eyed 19-year-old; he leaves older, wiser, about 2lbs heavier, and with hard-won knowledge that very few people his age can claim.

And he’s not exactly hanging about. Danny heads off to pursue something of his own - as co-founder of alongside his friend Tyler, opening this Summer. If his record here is anything to go by, it’ll do just fine.

All the best, Danny. It’s been a privilege.

CONSIDER THE ANCHOVY 🎣

She’s small, salty, divisive. No, not your mother-in-law, we are of course talking about the humble anchovy, an ingredient we believe to be greatly misunderstood and underappreciated.

An opinion shared by the wonderfully talented , who has gone as far as to write an entire book about the little fish. Consider the Anchovy has earned rave reviews from some of the country’s most respected food voices, including Heston Blumenthal, Giles Coren, and Claudia Rosen. It’s an anchovy odyssey, and it’s currently taking Sudi on tour across the UK.

This Saturday, we’re proud to be playing host at The Cartford, and we’re not doing things by halves. Sudi will be joining us for an evening of conversation, stories, and a three-course anchovy-inspired menu designed to make even the most committed sceptic a convert.
