Great Black-backed gull (Larus marinus) North Sutor, Cromarty / Moray Firth. They are around year round and are seen on most / all trips. The largest gull in the world with a wingspan of up to 1.7m they are allegedley capable of taking down an African elephant. I know many people don't like gulls - shame on you - but they play an important part in maintaining the health of seabird colonies. Thanks to ecoventures.co.uk

Common Dolphin (Delphinus delphis) Cromarty Firth off Nigg 13 June 2026. A small group of 8-10 animals seen briefly from www.ecoventures.co.uk Until a few years ago this would have been a short-beaked as opposed to a long-beaked but for now they have been 'lumped' back into a single species of Common dolphin.I claim no credit for this pic as it was shoot and hope.

Another video from the encounter with Bottlenose dolphins in Loch Broom on 26 May. This was taken with a Canon R5 as opposed to the phone. The dolphins we saw appeared to be in excellent condition, Thanks to Shearwater Cruises, Ullapool.
