We are so incredibly grateful to our lovely guests Bridget & Grant, James, Jane, and their family for choosing to stay at Alpine Cottage recently. But let’s not forget our furry guest Louis, who is probably one of the most adorable little explorers we’ve met! 🐾 🐶

When we started this journey, our dream was to create a cozy, comfortable "home away from home"—a quiet little sanctuary nestled in the stunning Wye Valley where guests could slow down, connect, and make lasting memories together.

There’s nothing quite like our favourite walk. A gentle, flat stroll taking us to Biblins bridge, from Herefordshire into the beautiful Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, via the rhythmic rush of the Wye rapids before taking the traditional hand ferry home to a blazing fire. Perfect!

The shoreline is buzzing and the roar of the rapids is calling… it’s canoe competition time here in Symonds Yat!

We are incredibly blessed to be the very last riverfront cottage just above the white water. From our vantage point, you can hear the energy of the river shifting from calm to chaotic.

Mother Nature is starting to touch the valley in glorious fiery colours. 🍁 🍁

We love this time of year! There’s an undeniable romance to autumn, a gentle season where the afternoon sun still holds enough warmth to wrap you like a blanket. The perfect time for a peaceful valley walk, glide quietly across the water on one of the cottage kayaks, or simply sit on the riverbank with a warm coffee watching the water flow by. 💕
