The Gate Lodge has been thoughtfully designed to the most exquisite standard, with the most beautiful details. From the lovingly restored antique furniture, to your own private sauna in the woods, its so very special.

We had such a special time last weekend, hosting lovely guests for guided tours in the garden.

We’ve got a few more events lined up, including a hands-on demo about growing perennial flowers for cutting (my speciality 🥰)

You know we’re not called “May-en” for nothing 💁‍♀️

But seriously, the history books say that our neighbouring village of Rothiemay or historical, “Rathmay” was named for the month of May, as this was a special time in the Pictish calendar. There’s still a stone circle on the mound or “rath” above the village!

But really, May is such a special time for us. In the gardening calendar we can be around a month behind those gardening in the south, but May always feels like an explosive moment where we catch up and everything comes at once!

We are absolutely delighted to welcome our first-born calf of the year here at Mayen — meet Lavender! 🐮💜

Lavender is settling into Mayen beautifully, but it won’t be long before she has some adorable playmates joining her as we head into calving season. It’s one of our most exciting times of year, and we can’t wait to share it with you all!
