SOLDIER ON THE STREET
Christmas comes but once a year,
But on our streets are men in fear.
Abandoned and left to sit forlorn,
Served their time wished they were never born.
They fought for our country loyal and true,
Now sit freezing cold turning blue,
Alone and left with no hope,
Some wish there was a handy rope.
They stare into space and hold out their hand,
No one cares in this fair land.
They remember their comrades long dead and gone,
Wishing sometimes they were the one.
A once proud soldier now shrivelled in pain,
He sits in the doorway with PTSD and nothing to gain.
Why are they there as you go wandering by,
You donβt see the tears that they cry.
They gave all for this fair land,
Think of them always and give them a hand.
