Looking for a change from sandy paws and salty noses?

Pigneys Wood near North Walsham is a lovely quieter spot for a woodland wander with your dogs (dogs do need to remain on lead). With wide paths, shady trails and plenty of sniffing opportunities, it’s ideal for warmer days or for dogs who prefer a calmer walk away from busy beaches.

There’s a mix of woodland and open glades, and it’s especially pretty in the early morning or late afternoon light. 💚 Why not see if you can find the 450 year old oak tree 👀

If you fancy stretching the walk a little further, the nearby Paston Way follows part of the old disused railway line which once linked North Walsham to Cromer — now transformed into a peaceful walking route through the Norfolk countryside. 🚂🌿

A little garden update at Saretta ☀️

We've recently replaced our outdoor dining furniture and we couldn't be happier with how it has transformed the space.

Whilst the previous picnic-style table and bench set served us well, we felt it wasn't the most comfortable option for many of our guests. We wanted something that was easier to get in and out of, more flexible and, most importantly, somewhere you could happily sit back and relax for hours with family, friends and four-legged companions.

The new dining set offers individual chairs that can be moved around to suit your group, along with a large tilting parasol to help create shade where it's needed on warmer days.

Whether you're enjoying breakfast after an early morning beach walk, a leisurely lunch in the sunshine, or a glass of something chilled as the sun goes down, we hope this new space helps you make the most of outdoor living during your stay.

Here's hoping for plenty of sunshine to go with it! ☀️🐾

🐾 A little beach wildlife reminder from Saretta 🦭

When enjoying the beautiful Norfolk coastline with your dogs, we kindly encourage guests to avoid using flying rings on the beach where possible.

Sadly, these types of toys can sometimes become trapped around seals’ necks if they are lost or left behind, causing devastating injuries as the seals grow.

A safer alternative is a solid frisbee, ball, or other non-looped toy instead 😊 There are lots of suitable alternatives in the garage at Saretta for guests to borrow during their stay.

We’re incredibly lucky to share our coastline with so much amazing wildlife, including the seals along the Norfolk coast, and small choices really can make a big difference 💚

⭐️ Saturday Shout-Out ⭐️

For guests who are a little more adventurous than their Saretta host… 😆

This week we’re shining a spotlight on Dilham Hall Canoe Hire 🛶🐾

For guests looking for something a little different during their Norfolk stay, this is such a lovely way to explore the peaceful waterways and countryside from a whole new perspective.

Even better — dogs are welcome too, so adventurous four-legged crew members don’t have to miss out 💚

Whether you fancy a gentle paddle through quiet scenery or just want to try something new on your holiday, this makes a brilliant alternative to a beach day. And for the more confident (or optimistic 😆) guests, paddleboards are available too… although there’s always a fair chance you and the dog may end up taking an unexpected dip along the way

Definitely worth a look for the more adventurous Saretta guest 😁 and if you do go, send us your photos - we'd love to see them!

Wednesday Walkies 🐾🌾

This week’s walk swaps sandy paws for peaceful countryside paths with a lovely stretch along part of the Weavers’ Way near Stalham.

If your dogs enjoy quieter walks away from the beach crowds, this one is well worth exploring 🌿

The route takes you through beautiful Norfolk countryside with open fields, hedgerows, little bridges and plenty of sniffing opportunities along the way. It’s a really relaxing walk where you can properly slow down and enjoy the surroundings.

One of the things we love most about this area is how peaceful it feels — especially early mornings or on cooler evenings.

✨ Ideal for dogs who prefer calmer walks

Around 2–5 miles depending on which paths you choose

There are several different footpaths and loops in the area, so you can easily make the walk shorter or longer to suit you and your dogs 🐾

Saturday Spotlight 🌊

This week’s Saturday Spotlight is Happisburgh

Guests staying at Saretta may recognise it from one of the vintage-style Norfolk posters displayed in the kitchen 😊

Famous for its iconic red and white striped lighthouse — the oldest working lighthouse in the UK — Happisburgh is one of those places that feels beautifully wild and unspoilt.

It’s also a place that quietly tells the story of Norfolk’s ever-changing coastline, with parts of the cliffs sadly being lost to coastal erosion over the years. There’s something quite moving about standing there looking out over the sea and seeing the power of nature firsthand.

Keep an eye out too for the striking Happisburgh Time and Tide Bell on the beach — designed to chime softly with the movement of the tides as a reminder of our changing relationship with the sea 🌊

The beach itself stretches for miles, with huge sandy expanses that are perfect for peaceful walks, wave watching and letting the dogs enjoy the sea air.

Their summer opening hours are now in full swing — and they’ll also be showing the FIFA World Cup matches for those who don’t want to miss the action while away by the coast 🌊⚽
