The River Cuckmere is one of the last remaining undeveloped river mouths in southern England, and those iconic meanders - the lazy, winding curves as it flows to the sea - are what make Cuckmere Haven so distinctive.

You've probably seen them in photos, paintings, or even films like Atonement. From up on the clifftops, the river winds through the valley like a silver ribbon, creating one of the most photographed landscapes in the country.

Step out of your cottage and the river path is right there, taking you down to where the river meets the sea at the beach.

There's something calming about watching a river that's in absolutely no rush to get anywhere!

Their friendly team knows the local area inside out and can help you choose a route to suit your day, whether you fancy an easy ride to the Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Haven or something a little more adventurous through Friston Forest.

So swap the car for two wheels and discover the Cuckmere Valley from a different perspective.

You don't need to drive anywhere - some of the South Coast's best walks start right here!

The South Downs Way passes directly through the site, taking you along clifftops with those famous Seven Sisters views. Head into Friston Forest for woodland trails and different scenery, or follow the river path down to Cuckmere Haven.

Each walk offers something different but they all end the same way - back at your cottage door, ready for a well-earned rest by the fire.

Softer light, that perfect hint of autumn in the air, and the countryside at its most peaceful.

We still have midweek availability throughout October and November, plus a handful of weekend dates.
