Pure Sage Spotlight — Meet Amber
I thought it was about time we properly introduced the people behind Pure Sage, so I'm starting with my business partner, Amber.
Amber and I hardly knew each other when we started working together. She'd recently moved to the area and we'd met through another property project. At the time, I was doing changeover cleans and having a right old whinge about trying to keep on top of all the laundry.
Amber simply said, “I'll do it for you.”
And she did. Straight away. Using her own washing machine at home. I'd invoice my client and send Amber the money for the laundry.
Looking back, it could have gone horribly wrong 😂
We barely knew each other, but there was this automatic trust between us and I guess we both just hoped there wouldn't be any hidden surprises and that neither of us would turn out to be slightly weird!
Thankfully, three years later, we're still going strong. We've had some brilliant highs and some pretty tough lows, but we've genuinely never fallen out.
So, what is Amber actually like?
She's very straight-talking. There's not much of a filter and you always know exactly where you stand! But she's also incredibly kind and one of those people you can just talk to about anything. She has a real way with people and makes our guests and owners feel completely at ease — nothing ever seems to faze her.
She also has a fantastic eye when it comes to setting up a holiday home. She'll spot the missing chair, move the mirror, suggest the right bedding, add the cushions and throws and think about tiny details like putting a little bowl beside the bed for jewellery. She notices the things that make a property work for guests.
And then there's the bookings...
Amber really cares about our owners' properties performing. If there are empty dates, she'll be looking at the pricing, minimum stays and what we can change, shortly followed by “Laura, this property needs more exposure”... which is apparently where I'm supposed to come in 😂
Away from Pure Sage, she's very social and one of those slightly mad people who thinks sea swimming is an all-year-round activity.
So that's Amber, straight-talking, incredibly kind, and the person who took a chance on doing my laundry three years ago and somehow ended up becoming my business partner.
