Situated in the heart of quaint Sedbergh, our family-run 16th century coaching inn has been a favourite destination of locals, tourists and walkers for decades. Our 2-Rosette restaurant is firmly etched onto the foodie map, welcoming those looking to experience the best of the Dales through high-quality food, local ales and stylish accommodation. We were proud to achieve our second Rosette Award in July 2023 along with a 4 Gold Star grading for our accommodation. We believe in using the best locally sourced food to create dishes with a modern slant, which are designed to reflect the seasons by our talented chefs. Here at The Dalesman we have six double guest rooms and a single, as well as a separate two-bedroomed cottage. Our individually styled rooms offer plenty of authentic charm and comfort, creating the perfect base to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. Did you know we have our very own Sedbergh Gin? 🍸🍃

Crafted in small batches, our traditional dry gin is infused with home grown rosemary and lavender, giving it a distinctive flavour inspired by our surroundings here in Sedbergh.

Small batch distilling allows us to carefully balance every flavour, creating a gin we’re incredibly proud to call our own.

Sedbergh really does look beautiful at this time of year, with the surrounding fells turning golden, lovely independent shops to explore and plenty of countryside walks right on the doorstep.

And after a day exploring, there’s always a good excuse to stop by The Dalesman for some delicious food, a drink by the fire or even a night away. If you’ve never visited Sedbergh before, autumn is a lovely time to discover it! 🍁

We’ve been busy working on a few new additions behind the bar and we can’t wait to share them with you.

But there’s a lot more to our new menu than just ‘cocktails’ and we’re looking forward to revealing what else we’ve been working on!

Our indulgent fish pie, studded with vibrant brassicas, or our homemade venison pie, rustic, robust, and buried under a generous serving of silky mash and deep, savoury gravy.

It’s a choice between elegance and earthiness, but either way, it’s made for this season.
