Three Peaks Project

What is the Three Peaks Project?

In 1987, a report by the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology claimed that the path network in the Three Peaks area was the most severely eroded in the UK. Some paths across the more fragile parts of the route had grown to 50m wide in places.

Since then, a great deal of effort and money has gone into improving the network and addressing erosion on Yorkshire’s Three Peaks.

However, with less money, staff and ongoing pressure from the number of walkers the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority had to find new ways to fund this vital work.

So in April 2009, the Three Peaks Project was set up. The project aims to ensure the area is maintained and improved in the long term by generating a sustainable income to help pay for its management.

Please Donate to the Three Peaks today or become a Friend of the Three Peaks.

What do we spend money on?

All donations to the project help to keep our Three Peaks Ranger in post. They focus on the continuing maintenance of the paths in this special area, making sure the Three Peaks route is kept in tip top condition, keeping them very busy!

Without this support, the footpaths would soon fall into disrepair and become badly eroded once more, and the surrounding landscape would be severely damaged.

Would you consider donating just £1 to support the Three Peaks project 🥾⛰️

Would you be willing to give £1 ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has supported so far — it really means a lot.

After Meg Tim and Nicola enjoyed their coffee Paul Pedals - Bikes & Coffee -, their first overnight was with us,
Stored their Tandem & hand cycles after a good night sleep and a King Billy breakfast we set them on their way this morning up High Hill lane for their next stop in Patley Bridge. All the best for the rest of your way of the roses trip cycle 🥰🚲🚴

Wow, is the first word that comes to mind when Meg Meg Lounds turned up this afternoon on her wheelchair with the snap-on . Meg is on day one of her six day charity Way of the Roses challenge in support of Lancashire Youth Challenge - ‘which enables young people to build confidence and resilience’. She is being supported today and tomorrow by Nicola and Tim on their super lightweight and ‘fast’ (their own words) Calfee Design carbon tandem.
Nicola was at the shop on Saturday doing the Rapha Women 100 ride with Kendal Cycle Club so shared the love with a return visit today with Meg. Nicola and Tim are in training to complete the Wheelbase Fred Whitton Challenge next year on their tandem and said the next stage is to master climbing out of the saddle!!!
Meg went on to tell me that she daily commutes on her handcycle from Morecambe to Lancaster so if you see her be sure to say hi as she is truly remarkable. We have sponsored Meg today and if you also want to then please copy the link below.
Best wishes to all of them in their adventures 😎😍👌🏻
