The best fake Stonehenge around!

Discover this folly in the woods around Swinton Estate built in 1800 and decide for yourself the true story. Is it a magical witches circle? Stones left by the gods? Or some guy making a job for the local unemployed?

Whichever it is these stones are worth exploring and at only a short walk from the car park at Swinton Bivouc it’s the ideal walk for little legs. There’s a cafe here too!

There are a couple of routes you can take with paths leading through the woods so you can extend to do a circular if you wish. I’d definitely recommend walking past Druids Temple after exploring and going to admire the view out over Leighton reservoir. Nidderdale at its finest.

The walk in total is 1 mile so super easy.

There are so many pram friendly or accessible walks in places you wouldn’t expect but my go to is usually the canal.

The canal tow paths are ideal for naps as you can just keep walking rather than have to negotiate undulating ground, gates, different terrain and noise!

Accessible walks are also a good one for winter walks as you know the terrain is good so it won’t be a mud bath.

They are also fab for bikes, balance bikes, scooters and the like.

I have done a blog on pram friendly / accessible walks in the Yorkshire Dales if you need even more inspo

A fun activity for the summer is a morning out to Yolk Farm Kitchen in Minskip.

The beach is in the outside part of the small play barn () area.

There are deckchairs around the huge sandpit so plenty of space for the adults to supervise. Lots of toys in the sandpit too for them to play with. There was a little tent set up with some garden games and ball pit too last time we went.

Inside is the normal set up; trikes, sand pit, reading corner, role play shop and construction area. Plus the cafe serving snacks, ice cream and drinks. Toilets are portaloos.

There are also a few farm animals about. Goats in the field, pigs in the pens. You can buy feed for them in the farm shop which is also worth a visit. The restaurant is really good, definitely recommend lunch/brunch here.

Entry is £3.95 per child (adults free) so it is a cheaper day out which is ideal!

Another walk that you may not have heard of before.

This Yorkshire Dales walk near Kilnsey is one that is a bit more of a challenge with little ones due to a bit of scrambling/climbing.

Going up through the gorge and the Dib is top exploring territory for them. Rewarded with epic views once you get up onto the limestone pavement at the top which gives Malham Cove a run for its money (on a smaller scale).

You can add on the additional part of the walk to the Pie too if you wanted.

Free parking in the village but no facilities. The nearest cafe would be Kilnsey Park.

Did you know there was a Lego cafe in Bingley??!

Right in the centre of Bingley, on the main T junction by the railway station is the cafe. Prime spot.

You can grab a bite to eat or drink whilst creating a Lego creation.

There’s a menu of Lego builds to choose from ranging in price dependent on time taken to complete. Or you can go off piste and choice a freestyle one where you can make whatever you like.

There’s also a little area dedicated to the younger ones with some duplo.

Plenty of Lego sets to purchase too.

Both my boys love it here and it’s so nice to just sit back and enjoy a coffee while they are in the Lego making zone for atleast half hour!

Took my Dad for a stroll along the Dales Way from Burnsall to Hebden recently.

It doesn’t matter how many times I do this walk it’s gorgeous every single time and never fails to amaze me.

An absolutely stunning walk up alongside the River Wharfe, passing Loup Scar, crossing the suspension bridge (or the stepping stones if you are feeling brave), and then up the valley to Hebden.

A fab 3.5 mile walk that’s easy going with only a few gradual inclines. It’s not a pram friendly route for the majority although the first section by Burnsall is.

Always make time to stop at The Old School Tea Room Hebden for a slice of delicious cake.

If you have kids the playground is another incentive!

The boys have been asking to go to the pump tracks more and more recently so luckily Embsay is pretty close for us.

The pump track in the playground on the Main Street, opposite the Methodist Church is ace.

Recently they have also upgraded the paths around the park by tarmacing them which is great for little ones on balance bikes or learning to ride.

The pump track itself is quite small but great for doing jumps and relatively quiet.

Which is your favourite local pump track?

A strange walk… why?

In a beautiful setting in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales lies a ravine with a shady past, where legends have been told of mythical beasts. Do you believe it though? Would you dare go look?!

A challenging walk for little ones due to the stones to clamber over but a fantastic exploratory walk with a cave, beck, gorge and more.

4km of adventure!

The walk starts just before the entrance to Parcevall Hall in Skyreholme near Burnsall and is a circular loop up through ravine and round.
