Ever wondered about the connection between our name and one of Yorkshire's most magnificent ruins? 🏰 Fountains Abbey—just a short drive from Linton—was founded under Archbishop Thurstan and grew to become one of the wealthiest monasteries in England over four centuries. The monastery was dissolved as part of the English Reformation, but its legacy lives on in names across the region. While our Richard Fountaine (1639–1722) came much later, there's something rather poetic about sharing a name with such an important piece of Yorkshire history, don't you think? Whether the connection is coincidental or intentional remains a mystery, much like many aspects of Richard Fountaine's own story. If you're exploring the area this week, Fountains Abbey is well worth a visit. And of course, The Fountaine Inn is the perfect spot to warm up afterwards with a hearty meal and a pint by the fire. 🍻🔥
