Following our recent Explore from Webland feature on Totnes, one of our owners suggested another local favourite — Ivybridge.

And we thought it deserved a feature of its own!

Nestled at the southern edge of Dartmoor, Ivybridge is a charming Devon town where independent shops, riverside walks and a slower pace of life come together.

📚 𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴

At the heart of the town, you'll find The Ivybridge Bookshop on Fore Street — a wonderful independent bookshop filled with everything from the latest fiction to children's favourites and signed editions.

Alongside it, Ivybridge has a selection of independent shops, charity shops, cafés and bakeries. It's the sort of place where you can happily spend a morning browsing, perhaps coming away with a second-hand treasure or a new book to enjoy back at Webland.

🌳 𝗔 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗿𝗺𝗲

One of Ivybridge's real treasures is Longtimber Woods, where a beautiful woodland trail follows the River Erme towards Dartmoor.

Think moss-covered trees, little waterfalls, peaceful pools and the gentle sound of flowing water.

It's a lovely place for a relaxed walk, particularly in autumn when the woodland begins to change colour. And with plenty of interesting scents and paths to explore, it's a great outing for four-legged companions too.

☕ 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁

After exploring, head back into town for a coffee, a freshly baked treat or a leisurely lunch.

Sometimes the best days out are the simplest ones — a good walk, a little shopping and somewhere welcoming to stop for a bite to eat.

🍂 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝗽: Combine a morning stroll through Longtimber Woods with an afternoon browsing the shops. The riverside trail is beautiful in autumn, and the town makes a lovely destination for a relaxed few hours away from the park.

📍 𝗜𝘃𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲, 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗻

🚗 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺: A short drive via the A38. Allow approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic.

🥾 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄: Longtimber Woods has a gentle riverside route of approximately 2km return, with longer walks available for those who fancy exploring further.

And a special thank you to Angela who suggested Ivybridge following our Totnes feature. We particularly enjoyed the recommendation of the bookshop, bakery and dog-friendly walks!

💬 We'd love to make this series about the places our Webland community enjoys most. Where should we explore next?

📍 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗪𝗘𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗 | 𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗠𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛

For our next Explore from Webland, we’re heading to one of South Devon’s most picturesque waterside towns — Dartmouth. ⚓

Sitting on the banks of the River Dart, Dartmouth is a brilliant place to spend a day, with colourful waterfront buildings, historic streets, boats coming and going on the river and plenty of places to stop for something to eat or drink.

⛴️ 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆
Part of the fun can be the journey itself. The Lower Ferry crosses the River Dart between Dartmouth and Kingswear, with fantastic views along the river as you make the short crossing.

🏘️ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻
Once in Dartmouth, leave the car behind and have a wander. The town is full of character, with independent shops, cafés, galleries and historic buildings tucked amongst its streets.

⚓ 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗱’𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲
A short walk from the centre brings you to Bayard’s Cove — one of the prettiest and most historic corners of Dartmouth. With its old quayside, colourful buildings and views across the water, it’s well worth exploring.

🏰 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲
Follow the river towards the mouth of the Dart and you’ll eventually reach Dartmouth Castle, dramatically positioned beside the water. As well as the history, it’s a lovely part of Dartmouth to explore on foot.

🚤 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿
If you have a little more time, there are plenty of opportunities to get out onto the River Dart itself. A river cruise is a great way to see Dartmouth and the surrounding countryside from a completely different perspective.

🍴 𝗔𝗻𝗱, 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲, 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘁…
From coffee and cake to fish and chips or a leisurely lunch overlooking the river, there’s certainly no shortage of options.

Dartmouth is one of those places where you don’t really need a strict itinerary — wander along the waterfront, explore the side streets, watch the boats and see where the day takes you.

Another reminder of just how much there is to discover when you Explore from Webland. 🌿

Do you know Dartmouth well? We’d love to hear your recommendations — favourite café, pub, restaurant, shop, walk or hidden gem. Let us know in the comments. 👇

An evening stroll, a couple of happy dogs, rolling Devon countryside and a beautiful sky as the day draws to a close. 🐾

There’s something rather special about this little corner of South Devon. Away from the hustle and bustle, surrounded by nature, with Dartmoor on our doorstep.

It’s moments like these that make Webland Farm feel like somewhere to truly escape.

📍 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗪𝗘𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗 | 𝗛𝗔𝗬𝗧𝗢𝗥 & 𝗪𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗕𝗘

For our second Explore from Webland location in the series, we’re heading up onto Dartmoor — where dramatic granite tors, open moorland and traditional Devon villages make for a brilliant day out.

This time, we’re combining two Dartmoor favourites: Haytor and Widecombe-in-the-Moor. 🥾🌿

⛰️ 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝘆𝘁𝗼𝗿
Rising high above the surrounding moorland, Haytor Rocks is one of Dartmoor’s most recognisable landmarks.

You don’t need to be an experienced walker to enjoy it either. From the nearby car park, you can take a relatively short walk up towards the rocks and be rewarded with some fantastic views across the moor and, on a clear day, far beyond.

Take your time, explore the paths around the tor and keep an eye out for some of Dartmoor’s four-legged residents along the way. 🐴

🚗 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗲
After some fresh Dartmoor air, make your way to Widecombe-in-the-Moor, a picturesque village tucked away in the heart of the National Park.

At its centre is the impressive Church of St Pancras, often known as the Cathedral of the Moor, surrounded by traditional stone buildings and beautiful Dartmoor countryside.

☕ 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁
Widecombe is the perfect place to slow things down after a walk. Have a wander around the village, stop for a coffee or something to eat, and simply enjoy being somewhere that feels a world away from everyday life.

And remember — Dartmoor weather can have a mind of its own, so sensible footwear and an extra layer in the car are rarely a bad idea! 🌦️

Autumn might be settling in, but there's still plenty of colour to be found around the park!

From delicate white blossoms and vibrant pink flowers to colourful berries and the last blooms of the season, our gardens and hedgerows are still putting on quite a display.

It's one of the lovely things about Webland Farm. Every season brings something different, and sometimes it's the little details that make this place so special. 🌿

📍𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗪𝗘𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗 | 𝗧𝗢𝗧𝗡𝗘𝗦

One of the things we love about Webland Farm is just how much there is to discover nearby. So, we’re starting a new Explore from Webland series, sharing some of our favourite places for a day out around South Devon and Dartmoor.

And for our first stop, we’re heading to Totnes.

Just a short drive from Webland, Totnes is one of those towns where you can happily arrive without much of a plan and spend a few hours exploring.

🏘️ 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀
Start with a stroll along the High Street, where colourful buildings, independent shops, galleries and cafés sit alongside some fascinating historic architecture. Look out for the distinctive Eastgate arch and clock spanning the street.

🛍️ 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁
Totnes has a long history as a market town, and the Market Square is still at the heart of it. Depending on when you visit, you'll find everything from local produce and food to crafts, antiques and vintage finds.

🏰 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲
A short walk from the High Street takes you to the remains of Totnes Castle. This classic Norman motte-and-bailey castle sits above the town, with views across Totnes and the surrounding Devon countryside.

🌿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘁
After exploring the town, wander down towards the river. It's a lovely change of pace, with boats on the water and walks along the riverside — and a good spot to stop and watch the world go by.

☕ 𝗔𝗻𝗱, 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲, 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲…
Totnes certainly isn't short of independent cafés, pubs and places to eat, so we'd recommend leaving a little time for an unplanned stop along the way.

That's one of the pleasures of having Webland as your base. You can spend the morning relaxing at the park, decide you fancy going somewhere for the afternoon, and have places like this waiting to be explored.

𝙉𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨… 👇
If you know Totnes well, where should everyone visit? Favourite café, pub, shop, walk or hidden gem — let us know in the comments.

And where should we Explore from Webland next?

🌿 We’d love to hear from our Webland owners…

Everyone has their own reasons for loving Webland Farm.

For some, it might be waking up to the peace and quiet.

For others, it’s sitting out on the decking on a summer evening, walking the dog around the park, watching the wildlife, heading out onto Dartmoor… or simply catching up with familiar faces when you arrive.

But rather than us telling everyone what makes Webland special, we thought we’d ask the people who know it best.

❤️ What’s your favourite thing about Webland Farm?

It can be a place, a view, a memory, a little Webland tradition — or simply the feeling you get when you arrive.

Tell us in the comments below. 👇

And if you have a favourite photo from your time at Webland, we’d love to see that too. 📸

Bright, practical and with everything close to hand — whether you’re cooking properly or just putting the kettle on.

And let’s be fair… the kettle usually wins. ☕
