A weekend errand worth getting up for.

Hampshire's farmers' markets are some of the loveliest in the country, and there are four within easy reach of The Cart House this June.

As proud members ourselves, it's always lovely to see fellow members trading at these markets, all run by and held across the county every weekend of the month.

June is a beautiful month to be in Hampshire.

The days are long, the gardens are at their peak, and the calendar fills up in the loveliest way. We've pulled together five of our favourites for the month ahead, all within easy reach of The Cart House.

A garden show in the parkland of a historic estate. The world's best women cricketers playing on the doorstep. The Beach Boys under a summer sky in Southampton. Strawberry season is one of the best things about a Hampshire summer. Within driving distance of The Cart House you'll find some of the loveliest pick your own farms around, with fields ready to wander through, baskets to fill, and proper farm shops for everything you didn't pick yourself. And if picking's not your thing, our local farm shop has the same Hampshire strawberries grown a few fields away, ready to take home.

Haven't booked your summer getaway yet? It's closer than you think, and the diary is filling up fast!

Here's a town that doesn't get nearly enough love: Alresford, one of the prettiest market towns in Hampshire.

It's the watercress capital of England, with a Georgian high street, riverside walks, and properly good places to eat. About half an hour from The Cart House, and a lovely day out in May, especially with the annual Watercress Festival on Sunday 17 May.

Did you know? The Cart House sits within Forest Farm in Waltham Chase, a site whose oldest buildings (the farmhouse and its attached barn) are both Grade II listed on Historic England's register.

The Cart House shares the same long history as a working farm building, part of the everyday life of the place long before it ever welcomed guests. The vaulted ceiling and original beams are all still here.

There's something rather lovely about a building that's been part of this farm for generations becoming somewhere people come to stay.
