The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the Tyne Valleys village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian's Wall Country, Hexham, and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inn history but with a modern twist. The existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics. Food is served seven days a week in the dining room or in the bar area. The food provides traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms consisting of 6 double rooms and 1 twin room, providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. 2 of the double rooms are dog-friendly. The outstanding views across the Tyne valley provide the ultimate conclusion to a visit to The Duke of Wellington which will stay with you long after you leave.

The Halloween pinsa menu is here 🎃

🧙 Witches Brew: goats cheese, pine nuts, basil pesto, lemon zest
🎭 Jekyll & Hyde: a split personality, half roast pumpkin & goats cheese, half tandoori chicken tikka
💀 The Grim Reaper(oni): pepperoni and nduja
🦴 Ghoulish Gorgonzola: gorgonzola, prosciutto, fig, walnut and balsamic glaze

Any pinsa with a house drink is £12. Served Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, alongside our regular pinsas and kids’ versions. There are trick or treat sweets and colouring sheets for the little ones, and a prize for the best costume each night!

All served with duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and seasonal veg.

Two cocktails with a little bite 🧟‍♂️
The Zombie: white rum, dark rum, grenadine and Angostura bitters. The Scarecrow: dark rum, velvet falernum, pimento dram and Curiosity Cola, a home-grown cocktail. Scary! Both £10 from our autumn list.

Our Christmas Day lunch starts with fizz and canapés on arrival. Then choose from dishes like pancetta roast turkey with pigs in blankets, rib of beef, or Norwegian halibut with langoustine bisque, finished with Christmas pudding and petits fours. £130 per person.

Refreshingly good for you. A soft drink with added electrolytes and vitamins, perfect if you’re driving, taking a night off, or just fancy something different.

Choose Mixed Berry or Tropical, £3.50 a can, served over ice with a wedge of lime.

Our Bar Snacks menu has had a little update 🍺

Two old favourites are back: a hand raised pork pie with apple sauce, and nachos with guacamole, sour cream and sriracha. They join halloumi fries, jalapeño poppers, mac & cheese bites, loaded potato skins and more.

£6 each, 2 for £10 or 3 for £14. The perfect partner for a pint.

When is a pizza not a pizza? When it's a pinsa 🍕
Pinsa is an oval Roman flatbread with a lighter, airier dough than a traditional pizza. Our Italian chef Raymondo brought it to the Duke, and it's been a favourite ever since.
Choose from pepperoni & hot honey, prosciutto & burrata, sun blushed tomato & mozzarella, or garlic, mozzarella & pesto. Any pinsa with a house drink is £12.
