😍 OUR LATEST VRBO 5* REVIEW FOR Cliff Cottage!
10/10 EXCELLENT
Lovely homely house in perfect location. Very much appreciated the welcome from Marie who had the wood burning stove lit for us when we arrived about 11pm. Peaceful and quiet with daily sighting of a golden eagle from the garden. Would highly recommend Cliff Cottage. Thank you Marie.

Liked: cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy, value for money.

Disliked: Nil.

Aghaidhean ùra / New faces
Come and visit the six chess pieces that are only on display at Museum & Tasglann nan Eilean, Stornoway until the end of the summer, which are on loan from the British Museum.

Among them is this earnest looking bishop, beautifully carved out of walrus ivory who is wearing a cape with a stole, and a mitre (a special tall, pointed, folding hat worn by bishops, abbots and the Pope) with infulae (the two ribbons or strips of fabric hanging from the back of the mitre). He is holding a crosier (which is a shepherd's crook-shaped staff that is used by high-ranking clergy) and also carrying a book which may be a bible.

He was last in Lewis in 2000 and since then has travelled the world having been in amongst other places Seoul, China, USA, France, Germany, Denmark and most recently he was in Trondheim in Norway.

Our opening hours can be found at https://outerhebridesheritage.org.uk/

Next Thursday, we invite you to join us at the distillery for a very special Harris Cèilidh Day as we celebrate the arrival of something new for summer.

From 10am onwards, the distillery will be full of cèilidh vibes, good craic and island community spirit, before the day rolls into an evening of cocktails, dancing and music.

Top-tapping tunes will come courtesy of the wonderful Tosh and friends and, if you can’t make it along in person, we hope you’ll join us online for a live stream or two across our social channels.

Curious what a Harris Cèilidh actually involves? Discover more at www.harrisdistillery.com/ceilidh
