Looking forward to Vintage on Sea!

Sutton-on-Sea will once again be transported back in time next month, as the much-loved Vintage on Sea festival returns for a third year.

Taking place on Saturday 4 July, from 10am to 5pm, the event promises a full day of nostalgic fun, with visitors invited to step back in time and enjoy the charm of a traditional seaside trip.

Since starting in 2024, Vintage on Sea has continued to grow as a community co-created festival, developed through Story Tellers Lincs, South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership's Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation project, alongside local partners and organisers including the Sutton Event Group.

The festival celebrates the sights, sounds and spirit of classic seaside entertainment, bringing together local performers and acts from across the country to amuse, entertain and inspire.

Visitors can expect a lively programme of entertainment throughout the day, including street theatre, live music, dance, and interactive performances. Highlights include appearances from The Shenanigans, Giant Seagulls, Octopus Ocean, A La Puppet Carte, and HMS Pinafore, along with music and dance performances from acts including Skegness and Alford Silver Bands, Rhythm and Steel and Lincolnshire Lindy Hop Clubs.

As well as the performances, the event will feature a retro market, classic cars and plenty of vintage-themed surprises, giving visitors the chance to dress up, get creative and fully embrace the spirit of a bygone seaside holiday.

Through Story Tellers Sutton-on-Sea has been identified as a Creative Hub site, linked to the new Seaview Colonnade, and events such as Vintage on Sea showcase the potential of creative activity to bring communities together and animate the town's spaces, with thousands of people filling the streets to explore and enjoy in previous years.

Councillor Graham Marsh, East Lindsey District Council's deputy leader and representative on the NPO culture board, said: "Vintage on Sea has quickly become a highlight of the annual events calendar in Sutton-on-Sea and wider East Lindsey, and it continues to be a fantastic example of what can be achieved when communities come together to celebrate their roots.

"It's wonderful to see the event return for its third year, bringing creativity, entertainment and a real sense of pride to the area. There is something for everyone to enjoy, and I would encourage residents and visitors alike to come along, get involved, and experience this unique celebration of our seaside heritage."

Vintage on Sea is free to attend, and everyone is encouraged to come along, take part, and enjoy a joyful trip down memory lane by the sea. All visitors can enjoy free parking at both Broadway car park (LN12 2JN) and Furlongs field football pitch (LN12 2JL) for the event.

It’s been a good half term week for Stanley…lots of guests, young and old(er), requested a little farm tour. We fed Stan some carrots and apples, fed the sheep, took a spin around the veg patch and collected the eggs. Diet time next week, Stan!!

That’s the first batch of sheep sheared in time for the hot hot day tomorrow. 🥵 These are last year’s lambs and are just over a year old. Trusty old Jakoti hand shears did me proud! Next into the salon will be the ewes.

Fantastic weather 😎☀️🌞🏖️ on the forecast for the weekend and on into next week! Here’s a quick update on availability at our peaceful farmstay at the Lincolnshire seaside.

After a late cancellation we have availability in the farmhouse B&B from Sunday 24th May. Super king-size or twin en suite room. Dog friendly. Excellent breakfast!

The self-catering glamping pods are pretty much fully booked except for Cow Pod which is available from Monday 25th May for up to 3 nights and Chicken Pod from Thursday 28th May for up to 4 nights.

Now the pods are all built, we’ve finally had a bit of time to tame the vegetable plot, replace the garden fence and even get the otter fountain back in action! We moved Mum’s otter fountain when we came back in 2014, it sat in a corner unused for 12 years…when I suggested the exciting ‘new’ site for it, Dom pointed out that that was where we’d moved it from originally. 😂

Was looking forward to showing our regular guests next week who have seen the pods progress and the gardens flourish (with plants, crops and bindweed in equal measure) over the years.

Unfortunately they’ve had to cancel but, for some lucky people, this means the coveted downstairs B&B room Driftwood is free for half term from Monday 25th May. Driftwood can be set up as a double or twin, has a large en suite shower room and is dog-friendly. 2 nights minimum stay.

Give us a call for the best price. Sitting by the otter fountain admiring the new garden fence is thrown in for free!

Sutton on sea is a very friendly place, especially if you are out walking a dog! Perfect conversation starter.

Today Willow 🐕‍🦺, Bracken 🐕‍🦺 and I walked to the beach at Church Lane (10 mins easy walk) & happened to see our friends Debbie and Sparky 🐶 from Building Behaviours so we had a lovely walk with them and Willow and Bracken showed off their perfect behaviour by clearing out Debbie’s treat bag.

On the beach, a young fox red labrador and his Mum came over to practice his recall and she was saying how their family holidays would be changing now they have a dog. Cue handing over a Manor Farm Stay business card and telling her all about the pods with their enclosed dog-friendly gardens!

I honestly didn’t set out on an advertising mission but I’m always ready. 😂

Breakfast in the garden, a dog walk, 2 posts on social media in a day…it’s just a blip, I’ll be back to normal tomorrow.
