If you’re dreaming of a peaceful short break now that the children have gone back to school, Swanage Home from Home is exactly place for you, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the sea, shops and pubs.

🍰 Take your pick of fabulous cafes like Love Cake Cafe for brunch, then mooch around the charming shops (give yourself a good hour for everyone’s favourite, Curiosity Swanage!) If you don’t fancy cooking later, it’s a very short stroll to one of the lovely pubs for dinner.

🌊 This beautiful apartment is perfect for friends to meet up together to enjoy coastal walks with stunning scenery, right from the door. You’ll have a dedicated parking space, which makes life easy to drive to other parts of the coast path like Kimmeridge or Shell Bay. Catch the wonderfully atmospheric steam train to Corfe Castle from Swanage Station (just 5 minutes’ walk away) for a wonderful day out.

Would you like to experience your very own 'Escape To The Country'? Check out Ferndale Cottage Devon, our gorgeous country cottage opposite the village pub, a short drive from the Jurassic beaches of Lyme Regis, Beer and Sidmouth.

The cottage sleeps 4 in double and twin rooms. There's a huge garden with its own bridge over a stream, and a woodburner for cosy winter evenings. Dogs love Ferndale Cottage Devon as they are allowed everywhere inside, there are glorious walks straight from the door, and the decking and patio are enclosed to keep them safe.

It’s such a peaceful setting - all you’ll hear is the ti**le of the stream, the chimes of the church bells and the singing of the birds. We guarantee you’ll feel relaxed and calm here!

The dog-friendly traditional village pub, Kings Arms Inn Stockland opposite Ferndale, serves delicious meals and has local ales to enjoy before strolling the few steps home. They also offer full English breakfasts and cream teas on Saturdays and takeaways through the week so you don’t have to cook - you are on holiday after all!

Do you love holidays in Swanage too? It’s a special place and well-loved by so many. We never imagined our little holiday page would get to 600 followers! 🎉

We’re Ali and John and we started this page to tell you about our holiday let apartment Swanage Home from Home, which is ideal to rent for your family holiday, or to meet up with friends. We speak from experience when we say what a comfortable place it is to stay in because we rented the apartment for holidays ourselves before being fortunate enough to buy it.

The location is perfect as it’s so quick to get to the beach and shops - just a 2 or 3 minute stroll. We love the private balcony, which is a glorious place to relax in the afternoon sun. And having parking in Swanage is a real bonus.

We’ve been holidaying in Swanage with our boys for 20 years. John’s been coming much longer, camping in Priests’ Way campsite with his mates, and he remembers the legendary New Year’s Eves in Swanage, with everyone in fancy dress on a packed High Street. Over time, the group of mates has grown to include girlfriends, wives and then families, who all have a brilliant time reconnecting in Swanage every Carnival Week.

Holidays in Swanage are an important part of family life for our boys. Catching the steam train from Swanage Railway to Corfe Castle was a real adventure for them, straight out of the Famous Five books they loved for bedtime stories. Even when they were little, they loved our walk over Ballard Down to The Bankes Arms, which has become a favourite Swanage tradition for us. There’s so much to do here that we come as often as we can, and our guests must agree because they keep returning, year after year.

The Mill Pond: one of Swanage’s prettiest places to discover.

Take a wander just a few minutes’ walk up the High Street from Swanage Home from Home. At the memorial cross, turn right down Church Hill. Here you’ll find the beautiful St Mary’s Church, which gives the balcony at Swanage Home from Home its lovely view.

Turn left and you’ll be enchanted with the tranquil scene of the gorgeous Mill Pond. The water mill was built from Purbeck stone in 1754. The Mill Pond is quaint and quiet and not to be missed.

Truly one of Swanage’s secret treasures!

Old pier - new pier - and Old Harry Rocks. We love this view!

Swanage Old Pier is the site of the town's original 750-foot wooden pier built between 1859 and 1861. Today, the structure is just a cluster of decaying timber piles remaining visible - but still an iconic part of Swanage.

If you want to treat your family (or yourself!) get down to the Ice Cream Parlour at Santa Fe funpark, 3 minutes’ walk from Swanage Home from Home. They have the most delicious waffles! We treated ourselves after getting a hole-in-one on the Jurassic crazy golf ⛳️
