Situated in the picturesque village of Upper Cwmtwrch, at the foot of the Blackmountains, just 15 minutes drive from Swansea and the M4 motorway. We offer a warm and friendly welcome, home cooked food prepared using local produce, all served with a smile. Evening meals are available 7 days a week including our chefs specials board. Our Sunday lunch carvery is highly recommended, but it is wise to book as we get very busy. The pub has a very cosy atmosphere all year round but especially in the winter with our log fire burning away. At the rear of the pub we have a large beer garden overlooking the river Twrch. 🌼 Aberfan — 60 Years On | 21 October 1966 – 2026 🌼

Today, we pause to remember the 116 children and 28 adults who tragically lost their lives in the Aberfan disaster. 💔

Sixty years may have passed, but the memories of those precious lives, the families who endured unimaginable heartbreak, and the community forever changed will never be forgotten.

We remember the children whose futures were cruelly taken away, the families who still carry their loss, and the courage, compassion and kindness shown by a community in the face of such devastating tragedy.

From all of us at New Tredegar Arms Hotel, we stand in remembrance and solidarity with Aberfan and everyone affected by this heartbreaking event. As a community here in the valleys, we understand the importance of looking after one another, standing together in difficult times, and keeping the memories of those we have lost alive in our hearts.

Today, we remember. We reflect. We honour their memory.

60 years on, 144 lives lost, countless lives changed, and a memory that will live on forever. 🕊️💛

After an exceptionally hot summer, British potato farmers are facing one of their toughest harvests in decades. With the lack of rain affecting crops and yields, there may be fewer potatoes available, and costs across the food industry continue to rise.

Behind every potato is a farmer, a family, a livelihood and hours of hard work. We must never forget the people who help put food on our tables. ❤️

Here at The New Tredegar Arms, Cwmtwrch, we believe that supporting our farmers and looking after our customers go hand in hand.

So, while prices may be rising elsewhere, we will do our very best to keep our prices the same and continue serving the comforting, traditional food you know and love.
