SPOT THE DIFFERENCE……

For anyone who has stayed in our gorgeous South Barn, you may notice something a little different in picture number 1!!!!

We are always improving, inside, outside etc…. This was something we have wanted to do and when you find a talented pair of drystone wallers you just have to go for it ❤️❤️

Done the “Somerset” way, the walk down to the pond now makes us grin from ear to ear…. Such an important and impressive skill. We are so proud to be keeping tradition where we can!

We’ve got friends staying with us this weekend so we took an afternoon trip to the Valley of Rocks yesterday and were greeted by these wonderful boys and girls. The approaching sunset made the experience even more spectacular.

If you’re staying with us, Lynton and Lynmouth are fantastic places to explore. Often described as Exmoor’s very own Little Switzerland, the area offers breathtaking scenery, wildlife, and unforgettable views.

Today I had the day off and spent it learning the art of smoking with The Exmoor Game School. We cold-smoked eggs, butter and cheese, plus hot-smoked trout, garlic and venison. Naturally, we then tucked into all of it for lunch — and it was absolutely delicious!

If you’re staying with us in the future and fancy a unique day out, I can thoroughly recommend it. It’s worth booking in advance of your stay…

Walkies!!! Are you a lake or paddock person?

Meet Poppy…. (And Poppy’s Mum and Dad ☺️)

This was Poppy’s happy face after her SECOND walk in the paddock that morning before she was leaving for her second week of her holiday in Bude❤️

A bit like some of us, Poppy is starting to feel it in her joints a bit, so that grin was the face of delight after a week of walks in the paddock and round the lake! No continuous in and out of the boot was a dream come true for Poppy, which meant she could make the most of her Exmoor adventures.

Our guests always comment on how much they love paddock meaning walkies don’t necessarily need the car… we have benches down by Holcombe Water (our name sake stream) for summer evenings. It’s a lovely spot!!!

Even Pippin can’t help but force a grin in the paddock 🤣 (gorgeous Pips!) 🙄
