Last night was spent surveying Loch Ichrachan and planning the next stage of work as our team continues to clear the embankments and open up the spectacular views hidden behind years of growth.

The transformation is already beginning, and we cannot wait to see what this loch becomes over the coming months.

But sometimes it’s important to pause.

To sit quietly in a boat amongst the lilies, surrounded by nothing but water, woodland and Highland skies, and appreciate just how extraordinary this place already is.

Loch Ichrachan has a wild beauty that can’t be created, only revealed.

Some guests come to Etive Estate for peace and tranquillity.

Piper has other ideas.

A quick swim in Loch Ichrachan after successfully counting to three seemed like the sensible option.

We’re not entirely convinced she’s a dog. There may be a little dolphin in there somewhere.

A different perspective of Loch Ichrachan.

This week has been an exciting one on the estate as work continues to unlock the full potential of our beautiful loch. The banks are being carefully cleared to open up breathtaking views across the water, while the main fishing areas are being cleared of weeds to improve access and enhance the experience for visiting anglers.

Out on the water is our Estate Manager, Tom, aboard the newest addition to the loch. The boat was kindly purchased by and will play a key role in the fishing experiences they offer here at Etive Estate.

From Sea to Table

The finest ingredients rarely need much introduction.

Fresh langoustines, simply prepared and served exactly as they should be, letting the quality of the produce speak for itself.

At Etive Estate, every dining experience is inspired by the landscapes, lochs and coastline that surround us, bringing the very best of Scotland to the table.

A taste of the Highlands. A taste of the sea.

A quiet little resident of Etive Estate.

While exploring the grounds, we spotted this beautiful hedgehog making its way through the long grass, completely unbothered by the world around it.

Moments like this are a reminder that Etive Estate is more than just a place to stay – it’s a thriving landscape where wildlife still finds space to flourish.

Wildlife Wednesday at Etive Estate & the Estate Dogs

One of the greatest privileges of living and working on the estate is sharing the landscape with the wildlife that calls it home. From red deer on the hillsides and birds of prey soaring overhead, to otters, pine martens and countless smaller creatures hidden amongst the woodland and lochs, every day brings something new.

The estate belongs to them as much as it does to us.

There’s something special about a fly line cutting through still water.

This week we joined for an evening on the Nant, surrounded by dramatic skies, wild landscapes and some superb fly fishing.

Back at Etive Estate, work is now underway on Loch Ichrachan as we continue opening up the banks and restoring the loch for fly anglers. Trees and overgrowth are being carefully cleared to create more accessible casting points, longer sightlines across the water, and a better overall fishing experience.

The aim is simple: to create a loch that feels wild and natural, while offering some of the finest fly fishing opportunities on the estate.

We’re looking forward to sharing the transformation over the coming weeks.
